"Shhh it's okay it's okay" Erik said awkwardly hugging Julia trying to get her to stop crying, but it wasn't working.

"I- i don't-" Julia tried to choke through her sobs "i shouldn't have- have thought he ac-" her voice faltered again "-that he actually liked me" she put her hands in her head and continued to sob. Erik didn't know what to say, nor do but he knew that Julia deserved better.

"Juls hes stupid and idiotic okay? You don't know that he didn't like you" Erik said trying to make his voice sound reassuring even though he didn't believe himself.

Lyle could hear Julia crying from his room. He threw a pillow against his wall hard and let his head fall into his hands. He wanted to go into her room and hug her, tell her it wasn't his decision and that he loved her, he was ready to say anything to her. No He thought. He couldn't do that to her, make it even more complicated, and as Erik had said she was sensitive. He didn't want her to feel like this, but he didn't want to make it worse.

He ran his hand through his hair "F*cking feelings" he sighed and pulled out his tennis bag to pack, throwing clothes in with force to try and subdue his anger which wasn't working. He walked out of his room, Julia's crying amplified, but instead he went towards the kitchen a yellow note catching his eye.

Lyle sighed even more alerted to his father kicking him out into college Make yourself something what's a better way to say sorry than food? It took Lyle a second but he knew what to make. He needed a few ingredient, but it would be worth it. Lyle hopped in a car and started his drive to the market, stopping at a gas station for a very important, maybe even essential component (care to take a guess what he's making or what he got?)

Julia had stopped crying a few minutes later and her and Erik were now scrolling through their phones, Erik showing her the occasional meme or funny video to try and cheer her up. He was trying but it wasn't helping a lot

Erik glanced over at Julia's phone and saw a girl, someone named something like Charlotte Demio, doing a dance to the music.

Lightbulb

"Juls! Teach me that dance!" Julia looked over at Erik practically dumbfounded and he smiled

"As if you could do it" she said sarcastically

He pushed her "Ill let you know I am a very talented dancer" he said as he stood up off the end "I am extremely good at the hokey pokey" he had a proud look on his face and Julia rolled out of bed, propping her phone up on a dresser.

"Okay so forward, cross the arms, and swing" she instructed and Erik preformed the moves, shakily but he was getting the hang of it. It took the two about 15 minutes to perfect it and preform it.

3...2...1....

The timer ticked down and they started dancing to the music. "We might actually pull it off this time!" Julia said as they were 3/4th way through the dance.

"Yeah I think i've- oh my god do you smell that" Erik said pausing his dancing and running out of the room

"So much for this" she said letting out a light chuckle, dancing actually had improved her mood. She could hear Erik's footsteps running towards the kitchen

"Cmon Juls!" he said loudly as she followed him slowly out of the room, forgetting to save what they had of a tiktok. Erik paused just above the stairs and let out a scream "LASAGNAAAAAA!!!!!!" he shouted, sacrificing the hearing of anyone in a 5 mile radius. He had a goofy smirk his face that made Julia laugh as he tugged on her shirt sleeve to hurry up. "lasagna" he said in his attempt of a high pitch squeal.

"I'm guessing you don't like lasagna" Julia said jokingly to Erik "that would make two of us" she continued a smile on her face as he dragged her down the stairs.

Sure enough, there was a steaming hot pan of lasagna resting on the stove, and Lyle in an apron next to it with a small smile. Julia's smile faded, which both brothers took attention too.

"Look Juls-" Lyle started

"So do you prefer middle pieces or corner pieces?" Erik asked interrupting and turning his back to Lyle

"Middle" Julia squeaked out and Erik agreed scooping out a piece and putting it on a plate for her and doing the same for him. He then walked her over to the TV turning it on for her and switching it to one of their favorite programs before receiving a tap on the shoulder

"Can we talk?" Lyle asked. Erik nodded and walked with him to a small secluded hallway.

"So?" Erik asked already being judgmental of Lyle, who sighed

Lyle reached into his back pocket and pulled out a bright yellow packet of M&Ms, peanut M&Ms specifically.

Erik's face softened "Oh"

"So are we good?" Lyle said handing the M&Ms to Erik and reaching his hand out to be shook. Erik shook his hand and took the M&Ms

"We're good" he said and Lyle let out a little smile "but I don't speak for Julia" he said, Lyles smile fading. "If you mean what you said" Erik raised his eyebrows "you should give her a few days, then talk to her" Lyle absentmindedly looked down towards his hand gaining Erik's attention "What's that?" Erik asked pointing towards the yellow note in Lyles hand

"It's um- nothing" Lyle said they didn't need to know, at least not yet

Erik shrugged his shoulders and headed back to the couch, Lyle staying in the hallway, and resting his head against the wall. He gripped the yellow note in his hand. He didn't have a few days, he had been this close to accepting his imminent fate of losing Julia. He shook his head, it had all gone to sh*t, but at least Erik was happy with him

He heard a noise on the TV and then the sound of Julia's laugh... the sound he missed so much and he walked out of the hallway, took off his apron, and served himself lasagna sitting at the table. He picked at his food, all he could think of was the stupid note.
