「　one ; firefly girl。 」━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

JAEMIN SLOWLY LEANS his chin onto his palm as his elbow prompts up on his desk. he couldn't comprehend the informational yet boring words that fly out his professor's lips.

his eyes were slowly closing and he was trying his very best to resist the urge of falling asleep. about to drift into sleep, his eyes shot back open from the loud thud the professor created and caused him to jolt up.

his eyes were now open and had his full attention on the professor-- well for at least half a second. there in front of him was a girl shining brightly. jaemin thought it was simply her clothes or the reflection bouncing off her but there were fireflies on her.

jaemin has never noticed her when he was falling asleep. he then snapped back out of his trance and realized that the reason why he noticed her now was because she was borrowing a pen from him.

there were students next to her but jaemin couldn't help but wonder why she was asking a pen from him. not wanting to take a chunk of her time, jaemin retrieves his backpack from the floor and pulls out a pen to hand it over to her.

she mutters a small "thanks," before facing forward. jaemin couldn't help but eye the girl in front of him. she had fireflies all over her and was shining so brightly; yet the other students didn't seem to notice her.

jaemin tries to genuinely focus on the professor's lecture, but the sparkling girl in front of him keeps on drawing his attention. before he knew it, the class was over and jaemin missed a whole lecture because he was bored and the girl.

jaemin lazily picks up his bag and collects his belongings from his desk; still can't get over the fact that his parents paid so much for his tuition yet he simply missed a whole lecture.

hiking the strap of his bag over his shoulder, jaemin lifted his head up and was suddenly reminded of the pen the "firefly girl" as he would call her, borrowed. and it looks like she forgot to return it as well.

being the introvert jaemin is, he would usually forget about it and let the girl have it as he didn't want to converse with her-- or anyone. but since it was his belonging, he wasn't going to let the pen go that easily.

jaemin looks around the room in search of the firefly girl. within seconds, jaemin saw her dazzling in front of the room, approaching a group of girls. she began talking— even waving at them, but the group doesn't acknowledge her presence.

the group walked away and left the firefly girl alone. the other students who went past her, didn't even look or glance at her and simply walked away as if she was in thin air-- or as jaemin would call her; a ghost.

jaemin felt more terrible to take the pen from the girl as he thought himself that he would be a jerk. he simply swallowed those thoughts away and approached her.

"hey," jaemin calls out, trying to get her attention. she looked up at him and gave jaemin a weak smile. "c-can i have my pen?"

"oh! yeah right, sorry..." she reaches out for bag and proceeds to look for jaemin's pen which was obviously lost in her bag.

jaemin couldn't even look at her. not only because he was guilty, but because she was too bright. jaemin found the fireflies irritating and blinding, hence why jaemin stared at the floor while she searched for her pen.

after a hot minute, firefly girl pulls out the familiar black pen from her bag and hands it over to jaemin. "thanks...?" she trails off, awaiting for jaemin to complete her sentence.

"oh— jaemin. it's jaemin..." jaemin grabs the pen from her grasp and gives her a small smile while she returns a bright one.

jaemin made his way to the door and exited the room. once he stepped out of the classroom, the conversation he just had, the girl, basically anything that has to do with the girl was wiped out from his memory and went about his day.
