(Y/N) POV - 1990 words
When I wake, it's to the warmth of bodies. I can feel the smoothness of the wall behind me. Cracking my eye open just the slightest, I see Korako in hound form—I don't know how he shifted without me noticing—curled around my back. Well, I feel him more than I see him, the big, dark blob. Killua has his head on my shoulder, also leaning against the wall...
Somehow he's comfortable, though I can't imagine it can be too good for his neck. I don't move for fear of waking him up. I smile lightly. Is this what he felt like when I fell asleep during the Hunter Exam? I shake myself lightly. It fills me with a sense of joy to know he trusts me enough to fall asleep. It's a vulnerable state to be in, and he'd never fall asleep unless he trusted me.
He begins to rouse just as the sun shines through the window. I gently nudge him to help him up. Blinking the sleep out of his eyes, he gazes at me for a moment, processing. After about ten seconds of staring at each other, he jumps up. Before he turns away, I swear I catch a blush on his cheeks.
"Feeling a little hot, Ki-chan?" I whisper so I don't wake up Korako or Gon.
He remains facing away from me as he mumbles, "You just surprised me."
I giggle, "Aw, cute little Ki-chan."
He turns around, blush still evident. He pushes past me and heads towards the door, "Stop that, baka."
The way he says it– It's quick and I can hear the smile in his voice.
"The four major principles:Ten. The ability to build up a shroud of Nen aura. You can make your body harder, and considerably slow of the effects of aging. Zetsu. A technique that nullifies your Nen aura. It is effective for concealing your presence, and recovering from extreme fatigue. Ren. A technique to create especially strong Nen aura. This ability is crucial for increasing your power. Hatsu. The release of your Nen aura, after boosting via Ren," I recap, "Now, quiz time."
Killua and Gon glare at me.
"Hey, this is still practice, just not physical practice," I smile. Memorizing is good, it'll come in handy someday.
"Zetsu," I drill.
"Conceal," Killua responds.
"Hatsu?"
"Release," Gon.
"Ren?"
"Enhance." Both.
"Ten?"
Silence.
"Seriously, you guys?"
"Oh! I know!" Go jumps up and down, "Shroud!"
"For the first thing you learned, you sure forgot it fast. Yeah. You're correct. You're definitely ready for whenever Wing decides to teach you again," I say.
It's been a month since Gon's last match. There's a lot of commotion around an upcoming match—Hisoka's. He's widely regarded as an insanely strong opponent, so people are highly interested. Korako and I have been fighting the entire time Gon's been out of commission, since we have our own reasons to gather money. We've accumulated quite the stash. I showed Gon the figures once... I don't need him passing out again.
I'm in Gon's room, watching him do upside-down push-ups on one hand... jumping up and down. Killua opens the door, "Gon, I got something good..."
He trails off as he sees the activity. The look on his face is priceless. I smirk, "You looking to catch flies? 'Cuz you're on the right path."
