(Y/N) POV - 2690 words
It will be a little longer until the next update, I did this one a little rushed, so I hope it lives up to everything before it. Comment anything else, thanks! X3
——Dream——
Mother and father are in the foyer having a business meeting, probably about an assignment. Crow and I are hiding behind the banister, practicing our stealthy sneaking skills. If we can get past our parents, we can go outside.
We're rarely let outside unless it's for training, which we do inside most of the time. We have a huge amount of private land surrounding our house crawling with guards and other nasty things designed specifically to keep intruders out. Crow and I like to make a game of trying to dodge every single one of them to get outside. We've never succeeded, but I think we're going to make it this time, something about today feels special.
"This time's going to be the one," I tell Crow, excitement lighting my voice.
"You say that every time we try this, (Y/N)," he replies, ruffling my (H/C) hair, short at the time.
I pout, "Oh come on, trust me?"
"Of course, kid."
Older than me by six years, he's far more experienced at this, and could probably easily make it out of here on his own, but he always changes to accommodate me. I don't know why he bothers. I'm just a pain in his ass. That's just what a big brother like him does, I guess.
"Alright, now's our chance. Don't you think?" he whispers as the voices in the foyer grow louder.
I double check just in case. He's given me wrong cues before, just to teach me not to trust everything people say. Don't trust anyone but yourself, he tells me. I think it's as good an opening as any and I nod my head at him.
We race down the hallway together, laughing quietly, jumping out an open window at the end. I grab onto a branch near the top of the tree, easily pulling myself up onto it. I don't wait for Crow, knowing he's following me, letting me lead. I jump from tree to tree, stopping for only a second at a time to assess where everyone else is. I've been taking private Nen lessons, so I'm just practicing application at high speeds. It's quite fun actually.
The first time I tried, I fell out of the tree and Crow laughed his ass off at me. That wasn't so fun, but now that I've gotten better at using Nen, it's a different story.
We continue on like this for an hour, running at top speed when we finally spot the gate leading out of the mansion grounds. I let myself smile in hope, jumping over the top, finally escaped. I roll, absorbing the shock, Crow right next to me.
"We did it!" I yell in victory.
"Don't celebrate just yet, we need to get out of here, before mom and dad come after us."
"You're right, they're gonna kill us!"
He just smiles at my panic, "I won't let that happen, kid."
I grin back at him, grateful. We both know the consequences of disobeying our parents—pain. I take a moment to wonder why the hell we do this if we know it's just going to end badly. I mentally rephrase, I wonder why I drag Crow into this and let him take the fall for it.
Crow waves his hand in front of my face, "Hey? You okay there? You spaced out. We need to get moving."
"Yeah. I'm okay," I say, shaking my head, "Let's go."
We race off once more, dashing into the forest. Exhilaration fills me as I leap from tree to tree.

When we finally stop in a clearing, far from home, I grin, "I can't believe we did that!"
"I believed you could do it."
    "No you didn't, you ass."
"Caught me red handed. What you gonna do about it, shortie?" He puts his hands up, a shit-eating grin on his face *sorry for the cussing, I'll stop if yo would prefer*
I lunge at him. He's far older and more experienced than I am, but I attack him anyway. This is actually part of my training. He dodges by blows easily. I'm a fast learner, adapting to his changes as quickly as he makes them.
This back and forth goes on for hours until he finally stops, letting me win. He falls on the ground in mock pain, "Oh God! Oh no! It hurts! I'm down!"
I kick him in the side, "Oh, shut up."
He just laughs. Neither of us are out of breath, this is play after all.
Before we can do anything else, a twig breaks in the forest. We both tense, jumping into real fighting stances. We survey the are the sound came from. The sound of a crossbow firing echoes from behind me. I have no time to react, despite everything seeming to happen in slow motion.
Crow's eyes widen as he pushes me into a clump of bushes. I hit my head on a rock, barely managing to stay conscious. I part the bushes slightly, remaining silent.
"This one'll fetch us a good price one the market," one of the trappers says.
Crow is trapped under a net made of some sort of metal. Something's wrong, though, he shouldn't be having this much trouble. I look closer, the metal's coated in something. It has a sickly green color.
The smell of burning flesh fills the air and I resist the urge to gag. They put acid on those chains. Even so, he shouldn't be having this much trouble. How is Crow this weakened?
He catches my eyes and mouths one word, "Go."
I shake my head. I can't leave him here. It's my fault he's here. It's my fault he's trapped.
Crow's eyes harden, turning to the trappers, "Let me go."
"Now why would we do that?" the first trapper says.
"Yeah, Lieker'll pay a pretty penny for someone like you."
Recognition lights Crow's eyes. Lieker, where've I heard his name before? Now is the worst time to be forgetting my lessons. Then, it clicks. James Lieker, the human trafficker. My brother's going to be sold, he's going to be treated like an animal all because I wanted to escape.
Crow stands no chance. I recognize the metal, it's developed by a wealthy company. It's designed to be resistant to corrosion and to block Nen. Weakened as he is, Crow can't do anything.
    He mouths again, "Go."
The first trapper catches his actions this time, "What're you looking at?"
As he turns, Crow acts before thinking, replying with a bite, "Your ugly ass."
    "What'd you say, you bastard?"
He raises his leg to kick my brother in the face, but the second trapper stops him, "Don't. Lieker will pay less if he's damaged."
"Tch," he sneers, "fine. You're lucky you're worth something."
He grabs Crow by his chin, "You're going to pay for that insult. I'll make sure of it."
I decide I'm going to get mother and father, they'll know what to do, and they can get here in time. I'm sure of it. I signal to Crow my plan, I'm going to sneak out and return to the mansion. He nods.
He must've known I wouldn't be able to make it back.
