If you ever wanted to hear what the internet breaking sounded like, then you should ask someone who was on any social media platform last night around 6pm.
Last night was the red carpet premier of Netflix's Original Movie 'Gallagher Girls' based off of the first book of Ally Carter's novel series of the same name. The movie's trailer, which was released near the end of August, created a frenzy online almost immediately after it dropped so it was not surprising that the movie's release would create another. And while the internet exploded with rave reviews from those at the premier, fans went crazy for a whole other reason: Louis Partridge.
Louis Partridge gained massive attention after Enola Holmes, a Netflix original led by Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, dropped. The 17 year old played Tewksbury, a boy running away from his wealthy family. Enola, whether she likes it or not, becomes entangled with while searching for her mother after finding out that someone wants him dead. Fans loved him for his looks and quirky remarks, and Louis quickly became a fan favorite. Naturally, people couldn't wait to see who he would portray next.
Last night, before the 'Gallagher Girls' premier, Netflix posted an official announcement that got everyone excited: Netflix would be adapting the Gallagher Girls series into a full movie franchise. They announced that their adaption of "Cross My Heart And Hope To Spy" (the second book in the series) would begin production in early 2021 and it would be called "Exceptional Young Women". In the same announcement, Netflix wrote that they would be releasing casting announcements "very soon". Everyone was excited to see who would be playing the part of bad boy Zachary Goode, a student at The Blackthorne School For Boys, which is the male equivalent of The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women. Zach becomes Cammie's love interest through the series, so people were excited who would be portraying Cammie's (played by the gifted Evelyn Faye Bennett) partner. And they were not disappointed.
During the red carpet, Netflix posted this statement on their Instagram: "We told you we'd be announcing casting soon and here we are! We are so excited to announce that the talented Louis Partridge will be gracing our screens once again. Not as Tewksbury, but this time as Zachary Goode in the upcoming film "Exceptional Young Women". Get excited!" And of course, people did get excited. Including the star of the franchise, Evelyn Faye Bennett.
During her final interview for the premier with YouTube platform TeenSpace, host Kailyn Lee asked Evelyn how she felt about working with Louis in the upcoming film, and Evelyn was stunned. Kailyn showed her the post after Evelyn let out a string of confused mumbling, and Evelyn had to take a second to compose herself. She told TeenSpace that she usually turns her phone off during press events, but now that she knows, she is very excited to work with him. Immediately after the interview was posted on YouTube, people started buzzing with rumors about the two actors dating, even though Evelyn has said before that they've never met.
