Wood Burning Project

Hello hello! It's been a hot minute since I've alerted anyone to the fact that I'm still alive, so without further delay let's get to it!

I recently acquired a new wood burning kit and wanted to learn how to use it so I made this little doodle!

I started with a basic sketch with plenty of little details and curves to practice on. For those of you who don't get it, it's a Dream SMP reference! (long story short there's a mind control egg that corrupts people by promising them their hearts desires. Hence 'The Egg Provides")

The vines and leaves were really fun to doodle, but now came the awesome part!

I started slow, with the first tip that came on the tool. Considering this was my first time, I felt I was doing pretty OK. A few deeper burns here and there on accident.

I had quite a bit of trouble on the curves tbh. I hadn't yet switched tips so I was really just trying to get the hang of this tip.

I switched to the smaller tip for the leaves on the blood vines, and fucking hell I kept running into trouble. I wasn't used to the smaller tip so I accidentally kept leaning the big part of the heated metal on the plate and it'd burn big splotches I couldn't get rid of.

Then came the words! I switched the tip again and I think despite the words being real curly I did a decent job on them.

Started painting next. Acrylics, I had fun mixing the different colours to get varying shades of red, as that's the colour of The Egg.

Painting around the letters was a right bother, I'll tell ya. I mixed some odd colours to get this particular red and I quite liked how it turned out.

Or so I thought at first...
I didn't like how the words faded too much into the red backdrop so I got out my white paint to basically fill in the burned dips of the letters (White because when the colour red is corrupted, it turns white, like what happened to BadBoyHalo)

And it turned out great! Overall I'm really proud of this piece, it was a nice starting bit and I really did enjoy it. Let me know what y'all think in the comments below!
