CHAPTER SEVEN

"Where the hell were you?" came Anna's voice as soon as I entered in our hostel room.

"Just went for a walk Anna" I told her in a bored tone so that she does not get suspicious.

"But" she started again but I cut her and said

"Not now Anna, I am tired, I will just take a bath and comeback." I passed by her and went to the bathroom.

In the bathroom, I turned on the shower, the water started running and I just stood under the water without even removing my clothes. I was just so exhausted with all the events taking place in my life, it was so surprising how my life took a turn, a few days back I was living just a content life and now I can't even do what I want, I have to follow someone else's instructions otherwise my life, my loved ones lives, everything is on stake. I don't know how am I going to get the secrets of the most powerful man of this country but I have to get it somehow, for the sake of people close to me. I never had a family but I have people who I care about and I have to protect them even if it takes ending my own life. Having all these thoughts, I didn't even realize when I started crying quietly in the shower, I quickly wiped my tears and chanted to myself 'I am strong' and changed my clothes and went to have some breakfast.

When I came out of the room, I saw the worried face of Anna and I told her that I am fine just to assure her, even though she didn't ask anything further, I could clearly see that she was not satisfied with my answer.

After having our breakfast we went to school, no words were exchanged between us the whole way to school.

We reached school, attended our classes and soon it was our break time, Anna and I went to cafeteria and waited for John.

"Where is John?" I asked Anna

"Don't know" she said

We had our lunch and waited for him, while discussing about a few assignments we got for this week, but he never came.

"Did he come to school today?" I asked Anna

"I don't know, maybe he is sick, he isn't even picking up my call." Said Anna

"Oh! Yeah maybe" I said dismissing the topic.

After our break we went to library and did our assignments. After doing a few, it was time for the work at café, so we hurried there.

When we reached at café, it was open and Lily was already there.

"Hello ladies, look at the new uniform, can you believe this, this material is so good" Lily said cheerfully.

"Really, I will go check mine, come Ariel" Anna replied happily and we went to staff room.

We changed into our uniforms and the material was indeed nice and came back to the counter. Today there was a great rush in the café, so we started our duties.

As soon as the counter got empty for a few seconds I asked Lily "hey lily, do you know who dropped these uniforms, by the way?"

"Um, I don't know, when I came here, the café was open and uniforms were already present in the changing room, I also saw our new manager but as soon as I came, he went away" she replied.

I frowned. "new manager" I asked her doubtfully.

"Yes" she said and then a customer called her so she went away.

We have a manager now, which means neither any minion of Daniel will visit here nor Daniel himself. Oh god, what will I do now, please help me.

After that we didn't get time to talk, as there were a lot of customers today. As soon as we finished our duty, lily told us that she will go as soon as the manager comes so we went home, ate dinner and went to sleep as we were so exhausted.

The same boring schedule kept going on for four days. John texted us that he went to his home for few days, the very next day and well, for Anna, she always tried to make me talk to her but I was just too stressed for that. In these four days, Jack contacted me 2 times but I had no information so I told him that I will contact him soon with the information. I also couldn't sleep at night due to increasing stress.

Today again he contacted me through a letter given to me by one of his men but today he not only asked about information but also threatened me with the old couple's lives if I do not give him anything till tonight. So I passed him the message that I will get him something tonight. But now the question was how ill I do that? And I did not have any answer, I was totally clueless. I really needed to do something and that too super-fast.

I think the luck is on my side today, when I reached the café I saw that the manager was present there, he was around 40 years, with a fine and tall body, than an idea struck me so I started planning for its execution. I just needed to be careful. And trust me when I say I really got lucky today, the manager asked for a coffee from me so I gave him coffee with a pastry. After a few minutes of having both of them he went to use restroom, just according to my plan. Well you all must be thinking how did my plan contributed in making him go to restroom, so here is what happened, I added a baking soda more than the mentioned limit in pastry and coffee both. Thank god that dumb man didn't get to know and now I can go through his phone.

And when I said today is my lucky day, I meant it because guess what, I got to his phone in his cabin, just before it was going to get locked again, phew!

I started going through everything to get some information but till now I did not get anything, I was just going through the phone when suddenly I heard

"What the hell are you doing with my phone?"

Shit, now what.

"I, I was just saving it from falling, yeah." I lied through my teeth

The man started coming near me, for each step he took forward, I took a step back, when finally he was close but at a respectable distance, he hold my wrist with a tight grip, and snatched his phone

"And do you expect me to believe you?" he said while narrowing his eyes at me

"Why is that I have a stomach problem after having coffee that you gave me and you are in my cabin using my phone." He said angrily and tightening his grip on my wrist.

"Please trust me, I am not lying" I said meekly.

"Do you think I am stupid, I know about your encounter with the boss, Miss Ariel." He said and added "in fact everybody in our empire does."

I looked at him and said "That does not prove anything."

"Oh yeah, right, but well poor miss Ariel, it does have consequences, the boss has strictly said that any mistake by you will be dealt by him personally."

I looked at him wide-eyed, I was now wondering if it was my good luck or bad luck.

"No, you can't do this" I said and tried to get out of the cabin.

And then he put a cloth on my nose and said "Breathe"

But I held my breath for as long as I could and squirmed in his hold to get free but to no avail, at the end I took a breathe and started feeling dizzy.

"It's time for the consequences Miss Ariel." He said and then I fell into a deep slumber (again).
