Hole shit. Jake has the coolest apartment. He lives alone, same as me, in a small brick building. The roof is slanted and low, fairy lights strung up. The floor is old, dark wood, scratched all over. He has a lot of furniture and random stuff around, plus a lot of cool posters and wall graffiti.
I already love this person.
We're sitting in the living room, with snacks and drinks scattered around. I sneak a glance at Alex every chance I get, blushing when we make occasional eye contact. I don't look away, though, like I would've back in Japan. I dare him to break the tensioned stare, and he does. Blushing.
I return my concentration to a game of bullshit. It's almost my turn, so I put on my poker face and gather my cards in my hand. I take a puff of my cigarette before slamming down my last two cards on the large pile, putting my arms in the air in celebration.
"No way! I call bullshit!" Jake shouts, glaring at me playfully.
I chuckle, flipping up my cards for all to see. Everyone groans and sighs, Jake pouting while slamming his cards on the pile. Tessa snickers at his antics, pulling him close and snuggling into him. Well, we have one pair so far.
We've already bonded a little, I think. I even told them my current situation, with my mother and all that. I guess everyone here has had some sort of loss in their lives.
We talk the whole night, playing games and drinking. Towards sunset, I eventually ended up on Alex's lap, and Jake ended up in only his boxers.
I feel a hand run through my hair, and I look up to see a clueless boy. He looks back at me before blushing and removing his hand, but his red eyes are still locked onto mine. Note that we are both blackout drunk*.
I reach up to him, softly cupping his face in my hand. I pull him down towards me and our lips meet, gently at first and then more passionately. He bites my lower lip a little, forcing my mouth open for his tongue to slide in. We stay like that for a while, kissing in each other's arms.
We pull away, and I look at him one last time before falling unconscious.
Holy fuck.

Sunlight warms my face, forcing my eyes open. I hear shushing and light giggling, then a warm hand stroking my fur.
Wait, fur?!
I lift my head slowly, regretting ever waking up when I see my black cat body. I yawn into my paw, stretching and standing up in Alex's arms. Wait... oh fuck. I fell asleep in Alex's arms before kissing him.
I really want to go hide behind a bush right now. Well, I can't exactly ditch my new friends. I walk over to a clear area where I can turn human, sitting down and ignoring the stares and 'awww's sent my way.
I concentrate on my human form and I instantly turn back. I yawn again into my hand, looking at everyone with an amused smile.
"Morning, everyone."
In moments, everyone seems to be back. Tessa stands and flops down on the couch saying, "You're so cute as a cat, Izu!"
"Can you turn into other animals?" Jake asks.
"Thank you and yes." I say simply and walk over to the kitchen, helping myself to a glass of water.
When I return, Alex is blushing madly and everyone else is giggling with evil eyes. I raise an eyebrow when they notice me, but I shrug it off and sit down after a moment of intense giggling.
Jake's stomach grumbles, successfully breaking a short silence. We all laugh, Jake blushing and glaring at Tessa for laughing at him.
"So... how about some breakfast?" Alex suggestions, earning nods from us all.
Not to brag or anything, but I'm a great cook. So, while everyone lazes around, I make pancakes, coffee, and bacon for everyone, occasionally taking a puff from a new cigarette. I put it out on an ash tray, sitting down at a small table to eat with my new friends.
I fall out of the conversation, getting caught up in my thoughts. Somehow, I manage to dwell on my recent loss. My chest starts to hurt a little, but I refuse to let my eyes water, focusing back on my food.
"Zuzu? You ok?" I look up to see Kira peering at me worriedly.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I smile warmly at her, taking a sip of steaming coffee.
Just then, my phone starts to ring on the couch. I silently walk over, accepting the call. A voice screeches through the microphone, gathering everyone's attention.
"Deku! You useless nerd, where the fuck are you?! I'm going to kill you, get bac-"
Fuck. I take a deep breath before setting my phone back down. I had to hang up in the middle of his damn rant, I really can't deal with his shit right now.
I'm greeted with more worried stares from my friends, and Alex speaks first once I sit down.
"Who was that?"
"One of my classmates from UA. Don't worry about it."
"But-" Tessa tries to say but I cut her off.
"Please." I scan them with a sad smile, ending the conversation.
We fall into a sort of awkward silence, but Jake snaps out of it. I'm so glad he's so... light? Funny? Yeah, it's very helpful right now.
"So, you wanna go out?" He grins devilishly, and we're already slipping on our shoes and clothes.
Making our way to an abandoned park, I turn my head to the side and stop when I hear something quite troubling.

Well, I guess it's time to kick some villain ass.
