Mari gently places her hand on Josh's arm.
He looks at her.
"Oh, I'm sorry, was that weird?" she asks, quickly withdrawing her hand.
"No, no, it's okay," Josh says. "Just...caught me by surprise, that's all."
She visibly relaxes. "All right."
"Do you know how I managed to escape Dema?" Josh asks.
"By following the east, right?" Mari asks.
Josh nods. "There's more to the story than that, though."
He looks at her. "I mean, a lot more. First someone had to tell me how. That someone happened to be...well, that someone happened to be a man named Clancy."
