And now we reach "the Scarlet Eyes". The two previous chapters were to go in-depth about how Y/n ended up at the Moriarty's and how they got to be Albert's butler. However, William decided to traumatize them and now they don't like people touching them and have to wear a collar with a bell. That's just a brief summarization. Also, please forgive me for coming up with random names for the children. Anyway, enjoy the chapter.

Y/n POV( 10 years old)

"Y/n, I am going to the ragged school today. Please accompany me," Albert says as I put down my book, titled 'New System of Chemical Philosophy' by John Dalton. I had been sitting in his room for a few hours now, keeping him company. Of course, he asked me to so this would be considered 'working'.

"Are you feeling well enough to go? As your butler, I would advise against it," I tell him with genuine concern as I look into his eyes. Last week his cold had prevented him from going out and seeing the poor children. I tended and cared for him, staying by his side until he didn't sound like a croaking frog. Nonetheless, it takes more than a week to cure a cold and I was still unsure of his current condition.

"Of course, there is no need for concern," Albert says with small smile as he puts on his jacket and coat. I stand up and place a small bookmark in the section of my book. Quickly, I dust off my jacket and pants, not that anything would be there. A little jingling can be hear coming from my neck as the bell on my collar lightly sways side to side.

"I understand, Albert. However, I'm not taking care of you in a week when your cold comes back," I jokingly say, making Albert chuckle as he opens the door to his room and walks out. I quickly catch up to him and match his pace as we walk down the long hallway. He holds his cane in his hand, almost hitting me a few times, but I easily dodge it. After working for him for barely over a year, I have gotten accustomed to how he walks, talks, and speaks. In fact, I would say I've gotten used to the Moriarty's as a whole. Well, except for...

The sound of a door opening cuts off my thoughts as I see a familiar light-brown haired boy step through it, watching Albert as he strolled down the hall. I continue to follow Albert, not acknowledging the younger boy. After you have almost been suffocated to death by a collar being placed around your neck, you tend to hate the person who did it to you. If I could, I would avoid William at all costs, but as his part-time butler, I can not do such a thing; I can only do as he tells me and do it perfectly.

"You're going out, Brother?" William asks, halting Albert's movements and making me do the same. Albert looks back to his younger brother, his face looking slightly agitated.

"Yes. Today is the day I go to the ragged school," he says, noting that going to the school was a weekly planned part of his agenda. I turn to face William as well, my hands clasped behind my back, as I watch the interaction between the two, careful not to directly look William in the eyes.

"You really are a curious one," William responds as I note his left hand on his hip and his right one holding a book with a green cover. He seems to be wearing his mahogany brown suit and red neck tie, both which he look terrible in. "Even if you are doing this for the Charity Organization Society, I don't know how you can always look in on a school for poor children," William continues to explain as his eyes begin to wander over to me.

Albert turns his body to the side so he doesn't strain his neck any further. He moves his eyes away from his brother, looking at the floor as William begin to speak again.

"And deliebratly going out to where the grimy underclass is? It's not something we nobles do," William says to Albert before looking in my direction. "Or our pets," he refers to me, making me lowly growl, not loud enough for either of them to her it. I resist the urge to take off my collar and throw it at him, while also resisting the impulse to grab the knives out of my pocket and throw them at him. "I bet you caught that cold you had last week from them," William finishes as Albert suddenly turns away and continues down the hall. I give William a slight bow, before speedily walking away to catch up with Albert.
