Oops, I do a lot of timeskips...Oh well.

Y/n POV (10 years old)

"You want me to select which orphan will be our foster child?" Albert asks his father as both of us stand in Lord Moriarty's study. He smokes a cigar, blowing a puff of smoke out as he responds.

"That's right. You and your butler regularly go to that ragged school, don't you? Go find us someone suitable," he says as he puts out his cigar. "Preferably someone well behaved, who won't give us any trouble, like them," Lord Moriarty points at me as I internally sweat-drop.

'I've been closely working with both your sons for over a year and you still don't know my name? At least I'm 'well behaved' because I have absolutely no plans to stab your son. None at all,' I mockingly think as Albert briefly speaks.

"Yes, Father," Albert responds as he keeps a neutral face on, convincing me he could make a good butler if he wanted to become one. Albert leaves the study as I soon follow behind him.

'So who's going to be my new co-worker-I mean, master. Who's going to be my new master?'

-------

"Do you have someone in mind?" I ask Albert as we begin to leave the estate, heading to the school. He only nods in response, lightly giving me the idea of who he has in mind.

As the carriage arrives at the school, Albert looks out the window with wide eyes. I follow where he is looking and see the smart blonde boy surrounded by 4 adult men as he draws in the dirt, all five of them standing a bit outside the gates of the school.

'Suspicious,' I think as Albert gets out of the carriage and heads towards the group. Quickly, I follow him, completely forgetting about the collar around my neck.

"So when you do the calculation, one person can advance roughly ten inches per hour. The soil in this area is quite firm, so in order to dig a 40-yard distance, I would say it will require about a week," the young boy explains to the adults as I quickly scan over the equation as we approach the group, slightly struggling from the distance.

'I understand the perimeter calculations, but how do the 10 inches per hour come in? If you are accounting for how fast one can dig, then that makes sense. Does that count all 4 men or per man? Also, would they be working at night or during the day? I think if they were to do it at night, fatigue from lack of sleep may affect them severely, however, the sun wouldn't be beating down on them. On the opposite side, if they were to work in the day, the sun would beat down on them, gradually lowering their work power, but fatigue from staying up late wouldn't hit them. And that's not accounting for-.'

"It sounds like you are talking about something complicated," Albert says as he finally makes our presence known. The boy slowly turns to face us, a small frown on his face, almost making me laugh.

'You got caught didn't you?' I think as the group turns to face us. Even if I didn't know what he was doing, I could tell it was not good or legal, not even considering the equation and the idea of digging. 'What are you up to?'

"Lord Moriarty..." the blonde-haired boy says as the adult's faces drop at the sight of us. A moment of silence passes between the group as I feel the tension building in the air.

"Well then... we had best be getting back to work," one of the men's as he stands up from his squatting position. He kicks the dust in front of him, messing up the equation the boy had been drawing, almost making me groan. "If we don't get a move on today, we'll never finish today," he says as he finishes ruining the equation and walks away, leaving with the rest of his crew.
