~ VII ~

"Diego, come on."

The phone line cracked.

"I'm talking to Patch, give me a minute."

"I have some important news," she continued.

"Okay?"

"Well, uh... we found some tapes at the academy last night, and, um... it looks like your Dad maybe didn't die of heart failure."

"What?"

"You need to go back to have a look at them - Luther wants a family meeting."

"Of course he does."

He hung up.

Alexis put the phone down in defeat, and looked round to a waiting Allison.

"Is he going to come?" she asked.

"I think so... it's sometimes hard to tell," she said.

"Will you come with me to find Vanya?" asked Allison. "I'm a little worried she won't talk to me if I'm alone."

"Sure - she doesn't really know me that well either, so I might not be much help. I'd hope she would be forgiving, though."

Allison gave a nod of agreement, and they left together.

The weather was grey, yet the streets were still quite busy. Walking with Allison was an interesting experience - she attracted a lot of attention. Alexis tapped her on the arm as she thought she saw their target, and pointed. Allison nodded. 

"Hey, Vanya!" she called.

Vanya looked around.

"Allison? And... Alexis, right?"

"Hey."

Vanya turned to the man she had been talking to.

"Leonard, this is my sister, Allison."

"Wait a second... I know you," he said. "You were in that movie. You're in the movie, the... you were the lawyer. The tough one in the wheelchair, right?"

Allison chuckled.

"Yeah. Yeah, that was me."

Alexis elbowed her.

"I liked that one too," she said playfully, under her breath.

Allison gave her a look of fake annoyance.

"You didn't tell me your sister was a movie star," said Leonard, looking back at Vanya. "Wow! You were in that Umbrella thing, too, weren't you?"

Allison nodded, clasping her hands.

"But you weren't in that, were you?," he said to Vanya.

"No, uh... I was sort of the fifth Beatle of the family, so..."

"I never really did like the Beatles," he said. "More of a Stones guy, myself."

Allison stepped forward awkwardly.

"Um, I'm sorry to interrupt, but, uh... could you come back to the house? We're having a family meeting."

"And you guys want me there?"

"I would," said Alexis.

"Of course," Allison said. "It's about Mom."

Vanya turned to Leonard.

"I'm so sorry. I..."

She gestured at the others.

"Oh, don't be. We'll do a rain check on dinner," he said, and left.
