****The picture above is what Ji-eun is wearing. along with a bag like the one shown, only with longer straps so it can cross over her body. She is also wearing some black sneakers.****
I gasp in shock, seeing what had been hidden in the space underneath the floorboards. In the shadows of the space, lay a handgun, multiple boxes of bullets lying beside it.
Slowly reaching into the space, I grab hold of the gun, feeling the weight in my hands.
"Why did grandfather have this gun?" I question, before noticing a note that was left under the gun.
Picking the note up, I began to read what it had said.
'For my sweet granddaughter. Hwang Ji-Eun, If you found this, that means I'm no longer with you, for which I am extremely sorry. I had planned to give you this on your 21st birthday, but seeing the circumstance, I couldn't do that. Anyways, if you've found this, it is yours. Take it and protect yourself in this world. It's okay to struggle, as long as you don't give up. Never give up.'
The letter finished.
I reread the last sentence in my head, remembering when my grandfather had told me those exact words. I smile softly, folding up the letter and putting it in my bag.
Picking the gun back up, I turn it over in my hands, examining it. It was similar to some of the guns that I had used at the shooting range with my grandfather. I checked the gun, seeing that it was fully loaded. I looked to the safety, ensuring that it was on before slipping the gun into my bag. I then reach back into the hole, taking out the boxes of ammo and putting them into my box.
I grab the wooden plank, covering up the floor once more, as I stand up from the floor. I take my bag, throwing the strap across my body, as I then pick up the cardboard box. Turning around, I take one last look around the apartment, before finally walking out.
I made my way to the end of the hall, pressing the elevator button. However, I was met with silence. Looking at the elevator, I then noticed a sign stating that the elevator was not currently working.
I sigh in annoyance before walking to the door that leads to the staircase. I open it, entering the stairwell.
"Guess I have to take the stairs," I mutter to myself, adjusting the box I held since I had 8 flights of stairs to walk down.
After beginning my journey down the steps, I wasnt sure what floor I was on when the stairwell door swung open. Being unprepared for this, I had stopped in front of the door to rest my legs, meaning that the door hit me, knocking me to the ground.
"Ah, I'm so sorry." I hear a male voice say, as a shadow looms over me.
"It's fine. I wasn't paying attention." I say, quickly trying to pick up the items that had fallen from my box.
I hadn't yet looked up to see who the person was.
"Here, let me help." Said the voice, as the person belt down, helping to collect my things.
I reached out to grab a box of ammo that had fallen when a hand came into contact with my own.
I looked up, seeing that the person was a young man, seeming to be around my age. He had dark eyes and wore glasses, but he still looked very handsome.
However, I quickly panicked, seeing that he was looking at the box of bullets on the ground.
"Thanks for the help." I quickly say, grabbing the box and throwing it into my box.
I stand up quickly, lifting the box as well.
"Thank you." I quickly say to the guy, before continuing my journey down the stairs.
I couldn't help but blush as I thought about the guy. What must he have thought about me, carrying gun bullets around? I then thought about his dark eyes. They had been very pretty. I smile, thinking about it. I hadn't dated before, but he seemed to look like the kind of boy that I'd like to date.
I shake that thought from my head.
'I need to focus on my studies, not guys.' I think to myself as I reach the bottom of the stairwell.
I exit the stairwell, entering the main hallway of the apartment complex. However, instead of people entering and exiting as they had early in the day, I saw people crowded around the doorway.
What shocked me even more, was the fact that the security gates were lowered, so even if we wanted to, no one could leave
