(Somewhere in mid 1984)
~Your P.O.V~
It has been months since the band spreading out and I did visit Takahashi-san and Hosono-san a few times. Akiko-san and sensei performed Tong Poo together in a documentary show the other day so I stayed behind to watch over Miu-san. She kept calling me "older sister" and I finally got her to call me just by my own name. She's really fun to play with and she looks like Akiko-san."ただいま!" (Tadaima : I'm back) I called out after I closed the door but I didn't hear and reply. Akiko-san must be busy... I walked to the kitchen and put the groceries on the table then sorted them out. "Ah! Welcome back, (y/n)-chan!" Akiko-san greeted me. "Thank you for the groceries." She smiled. "You're welcome! I bought some baking supplies. I thought we can make pancakes for snacks or dessert after dinner." I suggested. "That sounds great!" Akiko-san agreed with me idea and we organized the groceries and separated the pancake ingredients.
I pulled out the bowls, spoons and the pan to cook when Akiko-san called me. "Yes?" I responded. "I was organizing your room and I found this." She showed me my phone. "Ah jeez...". "What's wrong?" she was confused with my reaction. "I guess you found out too." She tilted her head. "That's my cell phone. Or a smartphone to be exact." I confessed. "I wasn't born in this era." I added. "When are you from then?" I told her when I'm actually from and she asked how I traveled back in time.
"Do you still remember the night that I said I was hit by a car?" she nodded. "It really did happen." I explained that the shopping part was true and a car hit me while I was on my way back to the station. "Did Ryuichi-san know about this?" I nodded. "It was more in a tearful way than casual." I added. "Him or you?". "Me." I was a bit embarrassed. I took my phone and put it on the dining table. We started making the batter. "If you're from the future, then you must've known the events that happened."
"I only read some. I was tired and I fell asleep while reading." Akiko-san then asked what I was doing that evening and I told her that I got home from the band's concert. "Are Ryuichi-san and I still together?" I knew she'd ask that and I remembered that they divorced long before the concert. "I don't want to ruin the surprise." I answered. "Oh, alright then..." she was disappointed but alright with it. We finished the batter and poured it on the pan to cook. Good thing we heated the pan first while we were making the batter.
We took turns on trying to flip the pancakes and there were some successful attempts. We made quite a few and stacked them on the plates. I pulled out the honey I bought and poured it on my plate. "They look delicious!". "And smells good too!" we admired our results. "Did you pour honey?" I nodded on Akiko-san's question and I gave the honey to her. We sat down and ate. "It's so good!" I commented. "I agree! And it's a great idea to put honey as the dressing." She added.
We continued eating and I remembered my phone that I put earlier. "How does it work?" Akiko-san asked. "Basically, it's like a computer in a small package and very sophisticated. Well in this era..." I explained. I unlocked it and showed Akiko-san how it works. "I'm sure you know that it will start off with number pads then eventually evolves to touch screen." I added. I scrolled through the camera roll and smiled, looking at the pictures I managed to take. "Is something funny?" Akiko-san noticed me smiling.
"I'm just looking at the pictures in here.". "May I see it?" I showed her the recent pictures. By recent, I mean the ones I took back at their wedding. "Were those taken at my wedding?" she asked and I giddily nodded. "So, you secretly took pictures of us?". "Yeah... I thought I want to save the occasion." I answered. "I did think to print them out but it would also mean that I'm risking myself getting exposed." I added. "I have to agree on that.". "So, uh... Akiko-san..."
She looked at me as a response. "How uh... how did you and sensei first met?" I was a bit embarrassed to ask. She giggled, thinking that I would ask something serious. "It started from Haru-san inviting me to perform with the band and that's how I met Ryuichi-san. Then things developed between us." She answered my curiosity. I teased about sensei being a bad boy, referring to Miu-san and Akiko-san gestured me a shush. But hey! As long as they're happy, I have nothing against it.
We continued eating and I had an something to ask. "Why did you choose Ryuichi-sensei in the end? Both Hosono-san and Takahashi-san are good looking and have their own top qualities..." I playfully smirked. Akiko-san giggled again, "Haru-san was already married and I believe Yuki-san was already taken at that time." She explained. "So, sensei was like a last day sale?" I teased then I laughed it off, telling her that I was only joking. "You can say it like that." She chuckled. "Speaking of boys... Do you have a boyfriend?" she asked.
"Not at the moment..." I answered then she asked what are my types. "Hmm... I think mature like Hosono-san, funny like Takahashi-san and smart like sensei. Good looking like the three of them if it's optional.". "You do like musical types, don't you?" I told her the trait can be listed as an extra. "Maybe it's because I'm with you that might influenced me.". "I hope you can find one who suits your types." She smiled and I thanked her wish for me. Miu-san joined in with us and Akiko-san offered Miu-san her pancake and she happily nodded.
((Sorry if those aren't your type...))
"Since you're from the future, how old is Miu in your time?" Akiko-san asked. "She's around forty years old." I answered. "Is that the reason why you use -san?". "Yes." I nodded. "What do you do before you came here?" she asked again. "I'm a student in the Music and Fine Arts University. You can probably tell which major I take." I ended with an awkward chuckle. "I also play in a band. It's a part time job for us." I added. She asked about my band and I told her about the members and our roles. "We had—well I had a gig before I came here and I was glad to be back on the keyboard. I have been handling the bass for weeks!" I chuckled at myself.
"Are you planning to go big like YMO did?". "I don't know yet... WE don't know yet. We're only doing this for extra payment and for free time." I answered. We finished our pancakes and I helped Akiko-san clean the dishes. "ただいま!" (Tadaima : I'm home) we heard sensei's voice from the front door. I remembered that sensei was out, doing a collab and apparently he's in the MV with the person he collabed with. "おかえりなさい!" (Okaerinasai : Welcome home) Akiko-san and I greeted in unison as we walked to the door. I asked about the collaboration while Akiko-san asked about the trip.
Sensei answered both of our questions, the song and the video will be released next year while he enjoyed his time. "Smells nice. Did you make something?" he noticed the scent. "We made pancakes!" I answered. "It was (y/n)-chan's idea." Akiko-san clarified. "Did you?" sensei looked at me. "I've been wanting to make them for a while." I answered. "Are there any left for me?" he asked and went to the kitchen. Good thing we made an extra plate for him.
I served him his pancakes after he sat down and he ate. "This was your idea? What a delicious idea!" he complimented. "Thank you!" I responded. I could've given a peck on a cheek but I'm afraid that I would get busted if Akiko-san saw me doing it and what if sensei think it was weird? "Have you had yours, (y/n)-chan?". "H-huh?" his voice snapped me back and he repeated his question. "Y-yes! I already ate mine with Akiko-san earlier." I answered. "I-I don't mind making it for you every afternoon.". "Would you then?" I guessed he noticed me muttering. "W-well... S-sure! I don't mind. But I rather go with you—As a staff!" I quickly corrected my sentence.
I grabbed two glasses and served both of us drinks. "Thank you, (y/n)-chan." Thanked sensei after I served his glass and I sat down. "So, sensei! What song were you working on?" I asked, striking up another conversation. "The title of the song is Field Work. I did the instruments and did the backing vocal while Thomas Dolby did the singing and production of the video." He explained. "Will you be in the video too? Did you do any roles there?" I eagerly asked. He giggled, "I don't want to ruin the surprise." He gave me my "future" answer with a wink. Although his wink made me skipped a beat, I still don't like him giving me vague answers.
A.N : Hey, guys! Sorry for the wait. I have been in a rough week. I had to end a friendship because I made a stupid and horrible joke also instead of giving me a comforting advice from my other friend, they almost made me put down my pencil for good! Gosh, some of my friends are dicks :)
Anyway, I'm fine now and I'm still finishing this book. Told ya that Akiko will know too... Hehe *ahem* but it's kinda hard to think of a plot without involving YMO in it. I really like writing interactions with them. Hope you guys enjoy this chapter and I'll see you in the next one! RD out!! Boi!!!
P.S : The vid I put is the clip of Yano and Sakamoto performed Tong Poo together. I couldn't find the full documentary but the song works out fine for me.
