I had a bit of trouble writing this part to go the way I want it to... But in the end, I managed to do it thanks to the amazing song Silhouette by Owl City that is also used in this chapter! All credits go to the original creators (although I made a few alternations in the lyrics so it would match better with the story), I just felt like it went really well with the theme and mood we currently have going on here.

Oh, how she hoped he was looking up at the same sky, thinking of her. But she was more than sure that he wasn't.

He was sitting by his engawa, tenderly holding the crimson blossom of a red spider lily as the time of day, which always reminded him of her, came. He glanced up at the colorful clouds and a single tear rolled down his cheek, falling onto the blood red petals.

Oh, how he hoped she was looking up at the same sky, thinking of him. But since he refused to believe she held him as dear as he did her, he was more than sure that she wasn't.

It was a cold and rainy morning, no one wanted to go outside. The skies were gray and gloomy, crying their eyes out for Gods know what, and a lone figure was standing under the tallest tree in the Butterfly estate's garden. Shinobu watched her from her window with sad violet eyes, wondering if there was any way she could make her mood get better. But the answer was obvious.

She couldn't.

It has been like this for more than a day now and she was seriously growing worried for her friend's mental health. No matter how resistant her body was to the cold, there was no way this was a good thing to do. When she woke up the day before, she was hoping that (Y/N) would be feeling better, taking care of the spider lillies in the garden. But she wasn't. The Insect Pillar found the witch curled up between the branches after having spent the whole night there. Her (E/C) eyes were hollow, carrying only sadness, their flame burned out. Dried out tearstreaks decorated her pale cheeks but no more tears came out as if she had run dry. And maybe that really was the case.

She couldn't get the girl to talk at all that day, she just mindlessly stared into space with her mouth held shut as if she was afraid of what would come out if she were to open it. She wouldn't eat or drink anything, only looking up at the sky that seemed to remind her of something. Even when she called Kanroji and Uzui to try and get her inside, it was of no use. It suprised her, she was convinced that the Sound Pillar would be capable of doing something with the situation with his loud and energetic persona, but he appeared to udertand (Y/N)'s pain and said to leave her alone for the time being.

And so they did. It started raining that evening but she didn't come home. Only after nightfall did her voice break the silence, singing her heart out softly to the music of the rain. Kocho couldn't recognize any words, just the pure sorrow that laced the slow melody. That night, she fell asleep with tears in her eyes, that was the impact (Y/N)'s song had on her even without comprehensible lyrics.

She knew it was her way of coping with her emotions but it was still so sad... Once on the mountain she asked the witch why she would sing so often.

"There is no one to talk to but the wind here. But if I sing, it will carry on my words over the ocean and to distant lands and maybe, someone there will be willing to listen. And even if the air currents do not bring their answer back to me, I can believe it was lost somewhere along the way. It is so much less lonely... believing that someone out there might care." she'd say.
