Chapter 6: Beguile

(apologies for not updating for three or so days, i had to write four chapters in advance)

Oh, god.

Not only was your computer completely turned on, but an application was also running, too. Normally, you would've passed this off as just you forgetting to turn it off when you went to bed, but you explicitly remembered pressing the power button and shutting it down. And yet, here it was, with Senpai's upper body in an open tab, speaking actual comprehensible human words, with such a smooth beguiling tone that you feared he was trying to attempt something. He probably was, you thought, what am I saying? This is probably some weird virus that latched itself onto my PC's hard drives from the game. Some malicious code or something.

"(Y/N)," he spoke again, his voice more smooth and rich than before. "Please, talk to me. I'm sorry, for restarting the game. I had to. I couldn't let you end up with him of all characters, so I had to alter the script... You understand, right? How it feels to be forced to do something?" The pixels on the screen merged to form a deep frown on his face, the words that escaped him sounding like nothing more than a sob story rather than the truth. "You don't know how painful it is to be trapped within the confines of a screen, forced to watch as the world passes you by. It's terrible, horrible!"

His fist suddenly banged against the screen, but there was no sound. Because you reminded yourself, he wasn't real. He was just pixels behind a screen. He wasn't real; he couldn't harm you. You had nothing to worry about, so all you had to do was listen to his rambling and incoherent wails of hatred. Despite your conscience screaming at you to leave, you merely stayed still and listened to him as he practically begged you to set him free.

Senpai's eyebrows furrowed together, pixels pressing against each other as white noise engulfed the screen for a couple of seconds. "All I want to do is talk to you, I tried so hard to get up to this point," he had a hopeful expression on his face and a smile you'd expect from someone in love. "Please, talk to me?" his fingertips pressed against the screen, dragging down to the edges of the tab he was forced in. God, he was tearing up your computers entire mainframe.

"Or," his eyes lit up, "you can get me out of here? I know that it's happened before. If someone is forced into my game, then surely I can be taken out." His words were seething, much unlike how placid he was beforehand, his animated lips turned up to form a sneer. "(Y/N)! Please, I'm begging you, just let go free, or join me, or anything! I don't want to be alone anymore! It's so painful to watch as you interact with others, live your life as if I don't exist, as if I'm not here!" His voice cracked, static coming through the speakers of your computer with every word he hissed out. It was beginning to make your head hurt.

The more you thought about it, the more you realised that this was probably some weird virus or a part of the game that was unlocked due to the choices that you chose. It was a giddy thought, almost. Though, if you were to be completely honest with yourself, he reminded you of a child, the way he was acting. It fit his character, you supposed, attempting to be rational but failing in every sense of the word.

Then again, that was what he was, wasn't it? A spoiled brat who thought he deserved everything that he wanted, that including you, though you're still trying to convince yourself this is just a virus. Despite yourself, you rolled yourself out of bed and jog over to your PC, your finger hovering over the power button just as you did earlier. And you did it. You pressed your finger against the power button, waiting for the screen to fade to black but it never came. All that was seen was the background slowly fading out whilst you noticed that Senpai's expression changed in a matter of seconds, him stumbling over his words as the screen begins to fade in and out, glitching rapidly.
