First off, I do not want to make a big ole introduction to this book. I am happy you decided to read it, but I want to clarify something...

I am not copying any other books, yes there are others out there similar to mine, but I just liked the idea of this kind of story, so please don't comment how you have read others like mine, thank you.

IMPORTANT:

I began writing this book when I was about 14 or 15...That being said, I am not going to lie, the beginning chapters of this book and throughout, are not that well written. I am now 19 and have matured immensely in my writing, so please give this book a shot. The sequel is very much well written, so hopefully you make it that far (:

I am currently writing a different book called Flight Buddies, so when I am finished with it I plan on going back to this one and doing a complete makeover (:

Chapter 1: Getting the News

It was a casual Sunday, yoou know, the kind where you are just sitting around the house not really bothering to do very much, and I was just sitting lazily on the couch with a cup of camomile tea in my hand. I watched as the steam from the warm tea floated up into the air and then disapeared. I had the sterio on, when the door bell rang. I got up to answer it, looking through the little peep hole, finding a police officer on the door step. I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion, and couldn't help the knot that formed down in the bottom of my stomache. When I opened the door, the police mans head swivled down to look at me, and he said

"Ahem, are you Cleo Tatum?"

Why would he want to know my name? How does he know my name?

"Um..yes"

"We'll, I am here to bring the unpleasant news that your parents have passed away in a plane crash when they were on their way to Florida...I am so very sorry." I looked at him, confused and said

"What? No, thats not right, I just saw them this morning before they left! There must be some kind of mistake, th-they just left th-this morning, it isn't possible, it just is not possible, this is a mistake!!"

I started crying, and the officer said

"I am sorry Miss, it is not a mistake."

At that point, I was crying so hard that I couldn't see anything except for the outlining of the police officer.

How is that even possible? There is no way they are both gone. Why would they leave me? What have I done to deserve this? I have no other family, where am I suppose to go, I dont want to go to a fosters home!

I just couldn't take it anymore, this information is just too much. I turned around and bolted upstairs to my room. I crawled under my pink and yellow flower covers, burying my head in my old pillow, and cried my whole heart out.

Its not possible that my parents are dead, I just saw them this morning when they left to go see an old friend, they were only staying there for a week.

I kept crying and crying until I just couldn't cry any longer, so I decided I might as well get up and clean myself. I walked into my bathroom, and looked into the mirror. My eyes were all red and puffy from all of the crying I had been doing, my cheeks were also slightly swollen, with tear marks running down them, and my hair was in knots everywhere. I took a shower, and changed into a pair of short Abercrombie shorts, a crop top, and pulled my hair into a high ponytail. I put on some light mascara, and walked out of the bathroom. I know what you all are thinking,
