Chapter 21: Dinner Picnic, and Annoying Colton

<<<<<<<<<<CLEO'S POV>>>>>>>>>

Have you ever had that moment where you are kind of just sitting really awkwardly at school, waiting for your friends to arrive, and you are the first one there, so it looks like you are a totally, and utter loner? Ya, well that's exactly what I look like right now because I was the first one to get to the giant oak tree for lunch, and now I'm just sitting on the ground under the tree. It is currently Hump day...Wednesday, and I'm ruffling through my backpack looking for my sandwich, when suddenly, everything goes black, literally! Then, that's when I realized that my eyes were being covered my someone's hands, I could tell that it definitely wasn't a girls set of hands because these hands were way too big, so it's either Tanner or Jeff.

I waited a moment, then said

"Jeff?"

The person covering my eyes shook my head saying no, then I said

"Tanner?"

They shook my head again, and that's when I got confused, mostly because those are the only guys I mostly talk to during school, I mean yeah, I talk to other guys, mostly guys who try to get my attention, or who try and get my cell phone number. I shrugged my shoulders, then said

"I'm sorry, I have no idea who it is."

Suddenly, the hands removed from my face, and I was immediately blinded by the bright light of the sun. I blinked a few times, attempting to get my eyes use to the light, when they finally did, there was someone standing in front of me, that someone being Chris. I smiled up at him, then said

"Hey! I didn't know you went to this school!"

He smiled down at me, then replied with

"I do. The only way you could've know was if you asked."

I smiled sheepishly up at him, slightly embarrassed that I never asked him what school he went to. He then said

"Why are you sitting alone?"

"Oh, I'm only waiting for my friends, they take forever to get here."

"Oh. Well, if you want, I can accompany you until they get here."

"That'd be great!"

He sat down, criss crossing his legs, and pulling out a sandwich in the process. I watched as he began eating his PB&J sandwich, but when he shifted his gaze and caught me staring at him, I quickly turned my face away, and blushed. I mean, you would probably blush too if you were caught in the act of staring at somebody who was just innocently eating their sandwich. I pulled out my sandwich, unwrapping it from it's clear rap, and taking a bite out of it. I was halfway done, when out of the blue, Chris said

"So Cleo, I was wondering if I could take you out on a date tonight? I know it's a school night, but I promise I'll get you home before it gets too late."

My mouth dropped open at the question, probably making me look like the most unladylike person ever. Is he crazy? I mean, we have only just began talking, and he is already asking me on a date! I decided to reply with

"Um...I don't know Chris, we have only just started talking, I barely even know you."

He smiled, not even slightly fazed by the fact that I practically just turned him down, then he said

"Well Cleo, that's the whole point of a date right? Two people go on a date to get to know one another. So, what do you say, want to go on a date with me?"
