Chapter 18: Spilling The Secret

I had finally made it past another week of school, glad to find out that there was actually only four weeks of school left. I came way later in the year, so school is practically almost over. I was currently sitting at the kitchen table eating some raisin bran, when Colton came waltzing into the kitchen. I tried ignoring him, because I don't know why, but something about seeing him right now, just irritates me, but it was kind of hard, when he decided to sit right next to me. He was currently eating some fruit loops, and it was annoying me because he is a lefty, and I am a righty, and our elbows kept knocking into each other. Our elbows hit each other again, and that was the last straw, and I quickly stood up, while glaring at him, and saying

"Would you stop hitting my elbow, it is so annoying!"

He looked up at me, raised his eyebrows, and said

"Jeez, what crawled up your ass and died this morning?"

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes, and instead relplied with a simple

"Nothing crawled up my ass and died Colton, it just annoyed me that you could of chosen to sit anywhere at the table, and you chose to sit next to me, making our elbows keep hitting each other!! Gosh, you are so annoying!"

Without waiting for a reply, I grabbed my cereal bowl, washed it, put it into the dishwasher, and stalked off to my room. I was still currently in some pajama pants and a tank top, so I changed into a light blue Nike sports bra, some running shorts, and laced up my Nike running shoes. I grabbed my iPod on the way out of my room, and jammed the earbuds into my ears. I walked down stairs, and rushed my way out the front door.

Once I began running, I was on a roll. I quickened my pace, running until I could barely breath. I am not so sure why I just randomly blew up on Colton just fifteen minutes ago, and I am not on my monthly from Mother Nature if that's what your thinking, I just kind of blew up at him for no reason, and now that I think about it, I feel kind of bad, I mean, he didn't do anything wrong. I was still running, and I was just about to turn around to head back to the house, when I noticed where I was. I had run to what looked to be an old, abandoned park. I slowed down my run, turning it into a slight speed walk. And I quickly walked over to the edge of the park. I pulled my earbuds out of my ears, only to be greeted by the sound of birds chirping, and the quiet swish of trees.

The park was not huge, it was petit, a very cute size. There was a medium sized red slide, and another set of double tan slides that were placed right next to each other. Off to the side, there was a set of four swings, and two teeter totters. I walked over to the swing set, and took a seat in one of the middle swings. I closed my eyes, and began swinging my legs back and fourth, remembering the first time my dad ever taught me how to ride a swing.

<<<<FLASHBACK>>>>>>>

"Come on Cleo, I know you can kick harder then that!"

I looked up at my father who was standing in front of me with a determined look on his face, and I replied with

"Daddy, I can't, my legs aren't doing what you are telling me to do! Can't you just push me again?"

I looked at my daddy in hope that he would give into my puppy dog eyes, and just push me on the swing again, but he said

"Sorry Cleo, but your just going to have to learn how to ride a swing the big girl way...that is unless you don't want to be a big girl, I mean, you could always be a big baby, that's fine with me."

That made me mad, so I scrunched my eyes together, concentrating solely on exactly what my dad told me to do. I repeated in my head, back and forth, back and forth, and before you knew it, I was up in the air, feeling the wind rush through my body. I squealed while my dad grinned, and said
