Saying Goodbye - Chapter 29

Y/n and Diluc are in the study. They have been working all day. They are just packing up their stuff

Y/n: well I'm exhausted
Diluc: go get some rest then
Y/n: aren't you coming up?
Diluc: I'll be up in an hour. I just need to go over the notes you wrote from the meeting. You go ahead. I'll see you in the morning
Y/n: ok goodnight

She gives Diluc a quick kiss then heads upstairs. After about ten minutes there is a knock on the door from one of Diluc's workers

Worker: sir mr Zhongli is here with adpetus Xiao. They said they need to speak to you urgently
Diluc: send them in

Zhongli and Xiao walk into his study with concern in their eyes

Diluc: what brings you both here so late?
Zhongli: sir, we have some bad news
Diluc: about what?
Xiao: it's about y/n...
Diluc: y/n? What do you mean?
Xiao: ... the Sekai Clan... they are sending a full attack on her tomorrow
Diluc: what?!
Zhongli: we saw them... they have a full army... y/n... y/n has no chance against them... they are stronger then they have ever been.
Diluc: ... then I'll go take her away from here!

Diluc is about to storm upstairs to grab her, but Zhongli blocks him from doing so with his arm

Xiao: you know there's no use in trying...
Diluc: then what do you suggest I do?!
Xiao: ... the only thing you can do...
Diluc: what?!
Zhongli: Diluc... you have to convince her to go back to her world...
Diluc: No, no. NO!! I promised her I wouldn't let her go back there! You hear me?! I PROMISED!
Xiao: You seriously think thats important right now?! She is in danger! If she is here when they arrive, they'll surely kill her! You are the only one that can get her to leave here...
Diluc: ...but she won't be able to return...
Xiao: ... I know... I'm sorry...
Diluc: I can't! I can't lose her!
Zhongli: she is gone either way... at least this way, you know she will be safe...
Diluc: ... when do they arrive tomorrow?
Xiao: we think about 12 in the afternoon...
Diluc: ...*sighs* give me till 11 tomorrow to say goodbye... meet me outside the winery then...

Diluc heads up the stairs leaving Zhongli and Xiao there. Diluc slowly opens the door to his bedroom and sees y/n fast asleep in the bed. He closes the door behind him

Diluc POV

I walk towards her and see she is so peaceful. I stroke her hair out of her face and feel tears forming in my eyes. I wipe them away before they land on her face. Leaning forward I kiss her on the forehead. I then take off my jacket and shirt and get in the bed with her. I hold her as close as I could without waking her. I sink my head into hers. I didn't want to let her go! How could I let her go?! I hug her for the rest of the night. There wasn't anything that was going to take her away from me that night.

Night turns into day. Y/n slowly starts to wake up. She sees Diluc there looking at her, greeting her good morning. She stretches out as she wakes up

Y/n: morning
Diluc: morning

Without hesitation Diluc kisses her. He barely pulls away for air. He didn't want to stop kissing her.

Y/n: *chuckles* what's up with you this morning?
Diluc: nothing... I just saw how beautiful you were and couldn't resist...
Y/n: aww
