I know I said that this was going to be the last chapter of the story but I changed my mind. A lot of you sounded pretty sad about the story coming to an end so I thought about it long and hard and came up with an idea to continue the story.

Chapter 29

The next five months was the best months of my life, that is until today.

Mom had moved to New Zealand and although I missed her it wasn’t that bad. We phoned each other a lot and she was doing great at her new job so I was really happy for her. Conner and Cole had graduated from high school. Conner had gone off to college a million miles away but I had no idea what Cole was going to be doing with his life and to be honest I didn’t care enough to ask. I haven’t seen much of him and I liked it that way. Reagan had gone for an abortion and then after a few days her family decided to move away and start over somewhere new.

Shelby and I are still best friends. It is summer break at the moment but even though we don’t have school we see each other a lot. She is still dating Walter and things seem to be getting serious between the two of them. Gordon and I had gone out with them a few times and he comes across as a really good guy so I’m happy for her. As far as Gordon and I go, I couldn’t be happier. He is absolutely perfect. We spent every moment we could together and he never failed to make me feel special and loved.

We spent almost every night together since Conner left. Sometimes I would stay over at his apartment and sometimes he would stay at my house. Last night we went out with Shelby and Walter. It was their turn to choose where we were going since I chose the last time. Walter had chosen some very fancy and expensive restaurant. It was beautiful but I could tell that Gordon was feeling uncomfortable being there, or at least that is what I thought was the problem.

Walter and Shelby ordered the most expensive food while Gordon and I tried sticking to the cheapest things on the menu. Once we had finished eating, Walter ordered some desert and then handed a little wrapped box to Shelby. Her eyes lit up as she took it from him and opened it.  It was white gold ring with a huge diamond in the middle which was surrounded by at least a dozen smaller sparkling diamonds. It was the most beautiful ring I had ever seen and I couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous. Not because Shelby had Walter who could spend thousands of dollars on her like it was nothing, I was just jealous because the ring was really gorgeous. I wouldn’t trade Gordon for a thousand of those rings though, he is worth much more then material things or money to me.

Gordon stared at the ring and then at me and I couldn’t help but worry. There was a strange faraway look in his eyes that scared the crap out of me. After we had all eaten desert Gordon drove us home. He was going to spend the night at my house but instead of pulling into the driveway he just pulled the car to a stop next to the road.

“What’s wrong? Why aren’t you pulling in?” I asked, getting more worried by the second.

“I’m tired and I have some things I need to do so I’m going to go home” he answered, not looking at me.

“I can come with you” I offered not wanting to be away from him, the way he was acting was strange and it was scaring me.
