Sumire sighed as she sat up from the bed, still a bit dowsy from sleep. Her eyes wondered across the room, trying to remember where how she even managed to get wherever she is right now. All she could recall is an impression, letting her know that wherever and however she is at the moment is that she's safe. It was then when her breathe hitched when her gaze caught sight of the man laying next to the bed she was just sleeping on.
Still not recalling anything the previous day's events, she hesitantly stood up from the bed and eye the blonde PSB police officer in wary and confusion. The brunette then tried to take a step forward, immediately halting when the floor creaked - alerting Rei's white fur ball of energy to jump on its human's face. Her eyes widened when Rei shoot up from his sleeping position, groaning in pain as he rub his face.
The blonde officer confusely looked right to left as though he couldn't remember why he's on the floor instead of on the comfort of his bed until a pair of feet entered his line of sight, the female kneeling infront of him. Sumire gently took hold of the man's chin, her eyes analyzing his face any mild to serious injury the little Haro might have accidentally caused.
Rei stared at her face as if in a daze, his gaze slowly locking into her eyes once they made contact. He gently brought his hand forward and carress the brunette's cheek, who relaxed at his touch. Not minding the coldness of his touch that the voice at the back of her mind screamed to be wary of as though it could possibly turn her into gold. Instead she leaned more into his palm, her warmth slowly letting Rei confirm that this is indeed not a dream but reality.
"You're here..." He muttered as he leaned closer as his eyes locked on her lips, though he halted himself before he was even halfway to her face. Reminding himself of what he announced to his love's parents.
I love her
Perhaps more than I should
But never less than I could
I yearn for that moment of her internal freedom
Just so I could finally hold her in my arms
I'm waiting for when she's ready to let go of the past
Though reality could be like a dream too, happiness and innocence ending too fast. Loving her is like Pandora's box all over again. The yearning to know more, learn more and finally have her open up is like that darn curiousness Zeus disguised as a gift upon Pandora, though in this case, this love is something he's willing to fight for until the end. This love is self-inflicted.
Finally, Sumire pulled away and reluctantly stood up as if finally snapping out of her daze.
"Sumire, are you okay?" Rei rushed to her, grasping the brunette's forearms to have her face him. For once, the competitive glint on her eyes is nowhere to be found. It's as if someone decided to drop a dipper of water on the fire she had inside of her.
"Sorry..." She whimpered as Rei tried to console her by slowly patting his hand on her back.
"It wasn't your fault." He tried to comfort her without even knowing the reason behind her sudden show of vulnerability, just wanting to ease her of whatever's bothering her.
"I guess I'm just tired." She said in denial, trying to convince herself more than him.
"You're not only talking about this, are you?"
"I tried all I can. I trusted their words again and look where it got me..." She muttered with so much hostility, Rei couldn't help but felt himself flinch but he also wanted to know what she meant. There's hesitation deeply under her tone as if contemplating whether to continue or further hide the truth.
