"Bella." Fred tried to get my attention countless times this morning. I continued to ignore him as he followed me down the steps to the Great Hall, "Bella."
"Hey, Gryffindor." I turned at the sound of Cedric's voice. He jogged up to me and held my hand. I reached up and kissed him
"Isabella." Fred called again
"We're ignoring him." I said against Cedric's lips and kissed him again
"I like that idea." He smiled, "Hungry?"
"Very." I said and we walked towards the great hall. We were beat inside by Fred who shoved into Cedric's shoulder as he walked into the hall. I rolled my eyes
"Bella!" Hermione called me over and Cedric and I went to her, "Sit. There's a lot to talk about."
"Where's Harry?" I asked and Cedric put his arm around me
"That's what we have to talk about."
"Can we talk later? I'm gonna have breakfast with my boyfriend." Her mouth dropped and I glanced at Fred who was staring daggers into Cedric. He looked over at me and I passive aggressively smiled then turned back to Hermione,
"Really?" She asked and I nodded, "We will catch up later then." Cedric and I went over to sit at the Hufflepuff table,
"Why do you do that to him?" Cedric asked as we sat down
"I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about."
"Oh I think you do."
"Because he deserves it."
"You're antagonizing him."
"Oh don't become my mother."
"I'm not. I just don't see what good comes out of it."
"It's called being annoying. You'll come to find that it's something I'm quite good at." He playfully rolled his eyes and kissed the top of my head, "What's on the agenda today, Mr. Champion?"
"I have no idea. I've been told of nothing."
"So does that mean that I have you all to myself today?"
"Maybe. Unless something comes up."
"Perfect."
All of a sudden there was a huge crash above us and I looked up to see a streak of lightning flash over the enchanted ceiling just before it started pouring outside,
"Oh. The rain isn't fun." Cedric said
"Yes it is. I'll show you, come on." I stood up and grabbed his hand.
"But breakfast." He complained. I rolled my eyes and pulled him out to the hallway. We stood just inside the arch separating the hall from the courtyard. "No. I'm not going out in the rain." I smiled and pushed him outside.
"Bella!" I ran around the corner to the other archway and he chased after me. I took a step into the rain and he shook his head, smiling.
"Come out. You're already all wet." I said and looked up at the sky. I was lifted off my feet and spun around. He put me back on my feet and brushed my wet hair away from my eyes then he kissed me. I broke away smiling and pulled him over to the fountain. I walked in a circle up on the edge of the fountain, holding his hand to keep my balance. He stopped walking and held out his other hand. I took it and jumped off the fountain,
"Come with me." He said and he started running, pulling me along with him.
We left trails of water behind us, laughing as we ran toward the main entrance. As we passed the great hall, the twins and Lee were leaving. I glanced over at Fred and saw a faint smile playing at the corner of his mouth as he watched Cedric and I. I was happy and he finally accepted it. Before I realized where we were going, we had run all the way to the quidditch pitch.
Cedric stopped running and pulled me close but I broke from his hold and ran down the field. He shook is head and ran after me. I turned to look where I was going. He sped up and got in front of me. He reached out and grabbed my hand and spun me around. I couldn't stop smiling.
"May I have this dance?" he held out his hand
"If you must." I teased and put my hand in his. He held me close to him and we slow danced in the rain.
It was perfect...
...he was perfect...
...which is why it could never last...
