Chapter 33

The chapter is short since I'm very busy.

What's vexing, is how busy and forgetful Jungkook has been. His visit to Hoseok, wasn't just to inform him of Taehyung's condition but also to get suggestions on what his next steps should be. Foolishly so, Jungkook never took those steps. He never prepared Taehyung for Seokjin's next visit and now he could only imagine and fret over how he's going to react if he meets with Seokjin when he's not there with him. Even Namjoon and Yoongi must be at work right now leaving only Jimin to handle him alone.

As he rushed to the pack house he texted Jimin not to bring Taehyung infront of Seokjin yet and also asked Yoongi and Namjoon to come back home as soon as possible. He bit his lips in nervousness, enough to draw blood, but his mind couldn't register the metallic taste, as it was already trying to counter the gross feeling of bile forming in his guts. Nausea was one of the common symptoms of his forming anxiety which he, at this point had a good control over. Preventing him from spilling his morning meal's contents all over the cab's new looking mat. He noticed that the car was new and that was surprising even for himself as to how his mind functioned enough to be cognizant of the shiny tinted windows.

When he reached his destination he had the consciousness of only acknowledging Seokjin's presence who was still standing outside. Once he rushed inside he started looking for Taehyung was who sitting on the floor right beside Chimmy's crib and playing with her tiny hands as she slept soundlessly. It was an adorable sight to behold, if only Jungkook had the time to sit and admire them.

He approached the younger with a smile on his face which brightened up even more once the latter smiled back at him. The apples on his cheeks that had now started appearing as some mass had finally started gathering on his body, looked smudged with what he could guess was chocolate. He couldn't figure how he managed to get the chocolate there but he could indeed be very messy sometimes. As if on instinct, he sat down on his knees in front of him and wiped off the chocolate with the pad of his thumb and licked it clean.

"Kookoo." The latter called out with outstretched arms wanting to be embraced by the elder, who only now recalls the whole reason why he rushed back so soon, increasing the chances of him being fired by his boss.

Jungkook just pulled him in a quick hug, equally needy of the contact too and the nervousness crossed his face again.

"Listen bub. Someone's here. It's the good man who brought you here. He came to see us a few days back remember? You got very scared that day but please don't get scared this time. He's not here to take you away. Taehyung will always stay with Jungkook okay? So please don't panic." It's the moment like these when Jungkook wishes Taehyung could understand him just like any normal person. He could see the visible obliviousness on Taehyung's face and that much was enough to tell him that he did not understand him. Maybe Hoseok was right about making him face his fears and letting him fight his own battles but isn't it too so for that? Isn't it too soon to put such mental and emotional pressure on Taehyung? Jungkook felt conflicted and time was running out.

Audibly sighing, he picked up the boy from the floor and brought him hastily to Jimin's room. He then picked up the whole crib with Chimmy in it and brought it to the room as well. He internally decided that he'll let Taehyung fight his battles if he ends up walking into the war zone. Or else he still deserves more time.

"Kookoo where?" Taehyung asked, taking ahold of Jungkook's hand once he tried to walk away from them.

"Kookoo will be back soon baby. I promise. You stay here with Chimmy okay? Make sure she doesn't wake up. Here, pat her like this." Jungkook instructed him with a whisper as he placed Chimmy right beside Taehyung on the bed and brought his dainty hands on top of Chimmy's little tummy and started bringing it up and down, so that the boy was now patting the baby.

"Otay!" Taehyung whispered too, not wanting to wake the baby up.

Once Jungkook walked out of the room his eyes fell on Seokjin, sitting on the same position like last time, his hands folded as they all probably waited for him. Jungkook was relieved to see that Namjoon and Yoongi were here too.

"Oh you should've taken your time. I'm just here for my everyday hangout." Seokjin remarked as soon as Jungkook took a seat on the couch right across from him.

"I had to take care of Taehyung. Stop being pissy about it." Jungkook spat right back.

"Look at you giving me the attitude. Ungrateful brat."

"You literally started it."

"I have every right to. Keeping Taehyung in a safe little bubble is not going to get him anywhere. If he can't face the person who's been nothing but good to him since the day he met him, the person who helped him escape, then how will he ever face those monsters? The bubble will have to burst one day and the longer he stays inside the more suffocating the outside air will feel once he comes out. I know he's carrying the heaviest baggage out of us all, but Jungkook, none of us are walking bare handed here." Jungkook felt annoyance build up in his body with every word Seokjin spoke, so he fisted his hands tightly to hold himself back from growling at Seokjin.

"He deserves a break." He spoke through his gritted teeth.

"That's the thing Jungkook. He doesn't have the time to take a break. You think that you can hide him here forever but it could be tomorrow when that man gets his hands on him. A deer is never safe in a jungle where the lion resides. But if he desires his freedom then the lion has to be killed." Jungkook heaved out a sigh as he nodded his head.

"But why is the Lion hunting the deer Seokjin?" The Omega now turned his attention towards Yoongi who finally decided to speak, probably for the first time.

"It's all the Lioness' fault."
