Head over heels

Falling head over heels.
Growing up, I thought it had meant falling of my bike
Or falling off my scooter.
An owie that could be fixed with a purple bandaid and a kiss from Mom or Dad.

Now my bike is broken.
It's tipped upside down and I'm covered in bandaids.
No kisses here, though.
No one to hold my hand. I'm alone on this bike ride.

Now I know it means that you dive into love blindly
to bruise the heel of your heart
without expectation of help from those around you.
But you can't help but fall anyways.
