My heart feels heavy in my chest when I think of you.
The same person who once made my heart feel so happy and full.
That fullness has become a sinking stone in my gut
That wrenches every time your name is mentioned.
I miss the time when hearing your name made me smile
But now, those memories have been tainted with sadness.
I can't escape the darkness that grasps at every whisper of your name.
That simple and short two-syllable word.
I wish my mind hadn't tainted our once happy memories,
But I understand that even the happy ones become sad, too.
Because even when times were happy, the lack thereof now only makes it bitter.
