Chapter 6

Kakyoin pov

I was sitting in the living room of the Polnareff household reading a book as Baron, my soon to be father-in-law, slept peacefully in a large armchair across the room from me. Speaking of Baron suddenly my fiance herself burst into the room holding a piece of paper.

"Malena had the baby! I'm an aunt! You're an uncle! Dad you're a Grandpa!" Cerise shouted excitedly.

"Well what's the baby's name?" asked Baron awaking from his slumber

"Well let me read the letter first! Ahem! We are proud to announce the birth of Lincoln Polnareff on September 4th 1999 at 11:34 p.m.! It's a boy! I have a nephew!" Cerise shouted, reclaiming her excited aura from a moment ago.

"Well congratulations you two on your grandson and nephew." I said gesturing to the letter.

"Oh no you don't Noriaki, you're a part of this family too, he's your nephew as much as he is mine!" Cerise said, finally calming down.

"I guess you're right." I said turning back to my book with a smile on my face.

I looked up again to see Cerise staring at me confused.

"What?" I asked.

"How are you not jumping up and down with excitement at the news? This is your nephew and your reading?" she said, still confused.

"Might I remind you mon amour that I am not a Polnareff, I don't have the energy that is coursing through all of your veins. Also I prefer to not make a lot of noise. Jumping up and down would disturb the peaceful environment. Don't get me wrong, I am very excited, I just have other ways of showing my excitement." I said.

"Interesting.." lamented the woman in the doorway.

Cerise pov

As I walked down the long corridor of the house I listened to a small tune that I had been following. I peeked around the corner into the livingroom to see my fiance rereading the letter we had received earlier that day tapping his fingers on the arm of the sofa and humming a small tune, smiling to himself.

'Huh, I guess that's how he shows his excitement,' I thought to myself and smiled,

'It's cute.'

"Well hello there mon amour, don't think I can't see you while I'm reading, I am one of the most alert people you will ever meet." said the man on the couch.

"Sorry Noriaki, I was just watching your reactions." I replied.

"I know, it's ok," he smiled, "want to read with me?"

"I would love nothing more," I said sitting beside him, "did you see the picture they sent?"

"Yes I did! He looks just like polnareff!" he replied.

"I know, he looks even more like him when you look at his baby pictures. That must be disappointing for Malena, having to go through all that just for your child to look exactly like their father." I said.

"Well they still don't know Lincoln's hair colour, it could be hers."

"True. hey Noriaki?"

"Yeah?"

"Would you ever want to have kids?"

"Possibly, it depends, do you?"

"Yeah, maybe."

"Well whatever makes you happy mon amour."

Yeah, he's a keeper.

"Ok, want me to go get Jean's pictures so that when they come to visit we can embarrass him?" I asked.

"Yes, I very much do, I have some revenge I need to get." he replied with a chuckle.

"Ok, I'll be right back. And Noriaki, Thank-you."

"For what?"

"Living."

"The fact that at some point that probably wouldn't be a possibility but that I managed to survive really puts those words into perspective. So you're welcome and I love you."

"I love you too."

"Ok they're here!" shouted Baron. Soon the door opened to reveal the small family of Jean, Malena, and Lincoln.

"Oh no." Polnareff said in a monotone voice.

"Oh yes Jean." said Cerise from the couch with Kakyoin holding a book full of embarrassing baby photos.

"You should've expected it Jean, you know how your sister and Kakyoin are, they stop at nothing to embarrass you." said Malena while trying to calm a fussing Lincoln eventually winning the battle between mother and son.

"I'll trade the book for the child." said Cerise, staring Jean straight in the eyes.

"Works for me, hand over the book and I'll give you Lincoln." said Malena from the hallway

"That was easy." replied Kakyoin as Malena handed Lincoln to Cerise and grabbed the photobook and started flipping through the pages.

"Really Jean? A bubble mohawk?" she said, stifling a small laugh while commenting on one of the photos.

"That would be the work of my mother." he replied.

"It's ok, I think it's cute." she said leaving him visibly flustered.

"Geez you and Lincoln look so much alike other than his hair colour! If he was blonde you two could be identical!" exclaimed Malena to Polnareff as she showed him some of the photos.

The couple then looked up from the book to see Kakyoin, Cerise, and Lincoln asleep on the couch.

"I can't believe she's marrying him, sure he was nice but the guy elbowed me in the face!" Polnareff said to a distracted Malena.

"I talked with your sister over the phone a while ago when they got engaged. You should hear the way she talks about him. It's as if she's a 6th grader talking about Leonardo DiCaprio. She loves him as much as you love me Jean, and you know for a fact that once that happens there isn't a single way to get rid of it." stated the woman who had resumed flipping through the pages of the book.

"Now go get Lincoln before they drop him in their sleep."
