"Hurry up Zayna!" I heard Khalid yell from the front door.
"Coming, coming!" I quickly run out of my room, slip on my shoes, grab my bag, and rush into the car.
"Finally," Khalid said, pulling out the driveway.
"Sorry," I said, catching my breath. I woke up late for school today. It was Monday, so you can't blame me.
Khalid pulled up in front of Basman's school. "Have fun kid," I said, turning myself around.
"I'm not a kid," he grumbles.
"Yeah, whatever...kid." I laugh at his expression. I love annoying him.
"Bye," he said, getting out.
"Bye Basman. Don't get in trouble!" Khalid yelled after him.
The rest of the ride was quiet. A few minutes later, Khalid pulled up in front of the high school. He sighed.
"What's wrong with you?" I asked.
"Nothing, just get down." He rubbed his face tiredly. Hala had already left the moment she saw Saba.
I take off my seat belt and climb out of the car, before leaving I turn around. "Khalid." He looked at me. "Stay home today and sleep, bro. We can go home walking."
"Nah, I'm going to take you home."
"I'm serious. We can walk." He was tired, and he didn't need to tire himself even more. He had stayed up all night yesterday helping dad.
"You sure?"
"Yes. And since when did you care? If it was your choice, you'd make us walk home every day." I narrowed my eyes at him.
"You know that's not true. But I don't want you to get a big head and go home with someone else."
I rolled my eyes, "I'm not. Stay home."
"But-"
"Khalid." I was persistent.
"Okay, okay fine. You're so stubborn." He put his hands up in surrender.
I giggle, "that's my specialty." I close the door and walk towards Nasreen, who was waiting for me.
"Why did you take so long?" She asked, walking alongside me.
"Nothing just had to tell Khalid to stay home."
"Um, okay! So you excited?"
I look at her confused. "For what?"
"For English." I stop dead in my tracks.
I completely forgot about English class. But... "Why would I be excited?"
"I don't know. I mean, you get to talk to your long-lost best friend." She shrugs.
"Your crazy." I walked up to my locker and open it up. Nasreen leaned against the locker next to mine. I grab my notebooks, "you know I don't talk to him."

Spiritual"You're doing it again, Z," he spits out my nickname like it was poison. I wince. "And on the same day." He started clapping slowly. I swallow the lump and my throat and ignored the sting of the tear that slid down my face. "And when I thought we we...
