HE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN ME

As Lan Wangji and Flora Immortal reached the Heavenly Emperor's private garden. Flora Immortal questioned, "who was the young boy? why was he stopping you?"

Lan Wangji truthfully responded, "he is Wei Ying, I mean Crown Prince's and my son."

Flora immortal curiously asked, "so you knew the Crown Prince when he was a mortal? Was he always like this strict, cold and stoic? No one apart from the Heavenly Emperor and Empress knows about his mortal life, and no one is allowed to discuss anything about him."

Lan Wangji immediately responded with a growing smile on his face, "no, he was very kind, he loved people unconditionally, he gave up his life to protect the weak. He hid his pain behind a smile on his face, he was warm and would keep on talking and talking, he was never like this, it's my fault, I should have been there for him, when he needed me the most. It's all my fault."

With that Lan Wangji sobbed.

Flora Immortal enveloped Lan Wangji's face in her hands, she then removed his tears and smiled. 

She softly whispered, "my son, I'm sorry for not being able to protect you and for not being there to share your worries, but from now on I will always be there for you. I know it will take a lot of time to build our bond but remember, I will always be there for you and I love you."

Lan Wangji was overwhelmed by the warmth, he hugged his mother and sobbed, "thank you!"

Flora Immortal was taken aback, she soon hugged her son back and patted his back.

After Lan Wangji calmed down, they broke the hug.

Lan Wangji then hesitantly asked his mother, "Flora Immortal... umm.. mother how was my father like? In the mortal realm my father... Qingheng Jun was never present in my life, he had always been in seclusion, he was never there for me or for my brother, so I don't know what he was like. But I would like to know my real birth father."

On hearing her son Flora Immortal's got overwhelmed with grief for her son had been so lonely while growing up, she somehow managed her tears and put a smile on her face and said, "he was a very kind and generous man. Everyone in the Demon Realm and in Heavenly Realm respected him and treated him well because he would help both Demons and Immortals of the Heavenly Realm, he was never biased there were times he supported the actions of Demons and condemned the actions of Immortals. He was probably the only Immortal who never had any issue with anyone. Had he been here he would have been extremely proud of you Lan Zhan."

Lan Wangji in his mind imagined his life with kind, caring and loving parents.

He then finally asked the question which was burning a hole in his mind, "why did you agree to break Wei Ying and my engagement? Is it because he found me?"

Flora Immortal smiled at her son's innocence and asked, "you love the crown prince, don't you?"

Lan Wangji without hesitating immediately answered, "yes, I love him more than anything else."

Flora Immortal held her son's hands in her palms and said, "I agreed because at that time my agreement would have maintained peace plus you can't force him to marry you, can you? Since you love him so much then work hard and win his affection back, and you are bondmates so I'm sure there is a part of him that loves you."

Lan Wangji nodded his head like a toddler and said, "I will win his love."

Flora Immortal and Lan Wangji talked for quite some time, in which Lan Wangji informed about his life on earth, his relation with his brother, Lan Xichen, he also described to her, his kind-hearted brother. 

As Flora Immortal heard her younger one speak, she had tears flowing on her face, she had missed a part of both of her sons' lives. Although she was proud of her sons, but at the same time, she felt helpless as she wasn't able to be there for her sons when they needed her, she promised herself that from that moment onwards she would take care of her sons and protect them from any dangers in the future.

Once they finished their conversation, Flora Immortal said, "Lan Zhan, I love you and your brother, I'm sorry for not being there for the both of you. From now onwards, I will always be by your side. So, if you ever have anything you want to share, you can always come to me. Okay?"

Lan Wangji nodded his head, Flora Immortal then held Lan Wangji's face and brought it in front of her and kissed his forehead. 

Soon they left the garden, Li Yu escorted Lan Wangji to Wei Ying's palace (Yanxi Palace) while Flora Immortal thanked the Heavenly Emperor for reuniting her with her son and then left for her kingdom.

On reaching Yanxi Palace, Lan Wangji was amazed by the decor, it was simple yet grand at the same time. Li Yu took him to his room and told him that the Crown Prince had asked them to take some rest and the food will be served to him in his room. Li Yu also informed him of the room which was assigned to Lan Schizui. 

Lan Wangji before going to his room went to his son's room and saw that Schizui was asleep. Lan Wangji caressed his son and then went to his room. After Lan Wangji ate his food, took some rest. He left his room to talk to his love, to find out what actually happened to his Wei Ying, why did Wei Ying distance himself from him.

Lan Wangji while going to visit Wei Ying, heard a maid order another one to take the tea to the garden. So, Lan Wangji guessed his Wei Ying was in the garden and followed the maid. On reaching near the garden, he saw that the garden was filled with peach blossom trees and Wei Ying was sitting in the center of the garden facing a middle-aged woman. The woman smiled at him and said, "how was your trip? did the medicine do its job?" 

Wei Ying smiled at her, "the trip was fine, the medicine worked well. As soon as I came to my palace, I asked the Medicine God to provide me with some more doses and he denied."

Lan Wangji wondered as to what happened to his Wei Ying, why did he need medicine, why did the Medicine God deny the Crown Prince of the Heavenly Kingdom?

Lan Wangji's curiosity was soon answered when the middle-aged woman said, "Wei Ying you know that the more you consume medicine the more it will hurt your spiritual power, plus the medicine will not cure you, it will just give you temporary peace."

She further continued, "why don't you take Mo Cheng's help, he wants to help you."

Wei Ying sighed, "you know I can't share that kind of bond with him."

The middle-aged woman took Wei Ying's hand in her and said, "I heard Lan Wangji is Flora immortal's younger son. Looks like my assumption came true after all, he really is your bondmate, plus you know him well, why don't you ask his help?"

Wei Ying, nonchalantly said, "no, he doesn't believe in me."

Lan Wangji was shocked hearing Wei Ying's statement, he didn't know why did Wei Ying say this. For a moment he lost his focus and made a slight sound, which was unfortunately heard by Wei Ying and the middle-aged woman. Wei Ying waved his hand and Lan Wangji found himself standing in front of the two. 

Wei Ying coldly said, "what are you doing here?"

Lan Wangji politely replied, "I was looking for you, I heard a maid say that you are in the garden, so, I came here."

Wei Ying stared at him for a second and said to the middle-aged woman, "mom, this Lan Wangji."

He then looked at Lan Wangji and said, "this is the Heavenly Empress."

Lan Wangji then greeted the Heavenly Empress, the Heavenly Empress smiled at Lan Wangji and said, "you look a lot like your father, I mean your birth father."

Lan Wangji looked at the Heavenly Empress and was amazed by her kind behaviour, the Heavenly Empress then looked at Wei Ying and said, "I saw Li Yu bring a huge pile of documents to your study, go take care of them, meanwhile I would like to speak to Lan Wangji."

Wei Ying wanted to protest against the idea but then did nothing and left the garden, leaving the Heavenly Empress and Lan Wangji alone.
