Reality II

An evening walk, a lonely mind,
A subtle kiss from the evening's wind
Is all it takes to remind me of her,
Of the times we shared when we were but afar.

Time keeps running, life keeps punching,
I'm loosing the fight as I sit there bunching
The thoughts and memories scattered afar
In a mind that's healing from love's old scar.

To cut short the distance, to fill this void,
I let my mind wander in an effort to avoid-
A longing for her hugs and the summer in her eyes
Or the sparkle in her smile that makes my pulse rise.

A glance around, a searing pain,
A laid back slap from reality again
Is all it takes to wake this mind-
And remind me that those times were left behind.
