TWENTY-SIX

"Have you guys made your decisions about college yet?" Sophie asked with a sigh at lunch that afternoon. "Because I'm a little stumped."

Biana and Maruca shared a looked before saying, "Yes!"

"Really? Where?"

"We're both going to NYU." Biana said with a grin. "They have a great acting and medical program there."

"You want to go into the medical profession?" Dex asked, turning to Maruca.

Maruca nodded. "I like caring for people and keeping them safe."

"And you've finally decided to become an actress?" Sophie looked at Biana.

"Yep," Biana said with a grin. "Then maybe Fitz and I can work in movies together."

Sophie nodded before turning to Jensi. "Where're you going?"

"I'm just going to UC." Jensi shrugged. "I want to stay close to home."

"And we all know where you're going." Sophie nodded to Dex. "I just don't know where I'm going to go."

"Well," Biana started. "What're your options?"

Sophie sighed. "Pepperdine, UC, Stanford, Harvard, UF, Florida State, Vanderbilt, and NYU."

"Woah, that's a lot to choose from." Maruca blinked a few times.

"Wait, do you even know what you're wanting to do as a career?" Biana asked. "Didn't you say you didn't want to be an astronomer anymore?"

"To answer your second question: I did." Sophie said. "and to answer your first question: I think so. I'm pretty sure I want to be a Psychiatrist. But, specifically, a Child Psychologist."

"That's so cool." Jensi said. "You'll be able to help kids with mental disorders."

Sophie nodded. "It seemed like a helpful thing to do. I know I had a lot of things going on as a kid, and, I may not have had a Psychologist to help me, but I at least had someone to help me through it all."

"That's so sweet," Biana said.

Sophie smiled, but then her face became serious. "But, back to the point: I have no idea where I want to go. They're all such great places."

Biana nodded. "Well, I'll tell you what my mom told me." She cleared her throat. "Go where your heart tells you to."

Sophie sighed. "That's literally what Grady told me."

Biana shrugged. "It's true, though."

"Okay," Sophie nodded as the bell rang. "I'll think about it."

"Do you guys want to get ice-cream?" Biana asked them at the very end of Study Hall that day. "I'll pay,"

"Sure." Dex and Jensi said at the same time.

"Yeah, I'm not doing anything later." Maruca said with a nod. "What about you, Sophie?"

Sophie bit her lip. "I don't know. I have a lot of things to look at for all those colleges."

"What if we help you?" Biana asked. "You have your laptop, right?"

Sophie nodded.

"Well, what if you bring your stuff into the ice-cream-cake-candy-place and, while we eat, we help you do research and work, and help you narrow it down?"
