His Baby

~ Chapter 09 ~

~ CHAPTER 09~

I WATCH Julian pull out of the garage and drive down the street, I look down at the baby

"Your car or mine?" Jax says snapping me out of my thoughts

"Um, her baby seat is in my car but I can move it to your car if you want," I say to him and I see Violet smiling at me

"Hi baby girl" I reply to her and she gurgles, which is music to my ears

"You are a too-cute baby," he says looking at her, and my heart aches, he slides his finger across her cheek and she also gurgles at him

"It's up to you, but if it is easier we can take your car," he says turning the attention back to me

"Sure, did you want to drive?" I ask knowing he would hate to sit in the passenger seat, when we were dating he drove us everywhere

"You know me so well," he says and I hand my car keys to him, turning away so he can't see my face fall again, this is already too hard

"Let's go shall we," I say and we make our way out the door

I open the door and Jax follows behind me, I walk to my car and Jax unlocks the door so I buckle Violet in the car, and I open the passenger door to my car and sit in only to see Jax half in my car, moving the seat backwards, I can't help but giggle and he stops looking at me grinning.

"What are you laughing at?" he says to me finally moving the seat far enough for him to drive comfortably he turns to face me

"I forgot how short you were," he says

"Hey, It's not my fault you are a foot taller than me" I reply, and I smile at him, and he stops and I get a visual of his eyes

Oh, how I missed looking into his beautiful green eyes. The eyes that our daughter has.

He brings his hand up and tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear, and my stomach turns butterfly's erupting in my stomach

He leans in closer to me, but things don't go any further because Violet lets out a little cry

"Oh yes I haven't forgotten you," I say to Violet, and I turn around to face her and place her dummy in her mouth, which settles her

I turn back and Jax is watching me intently, I clear my throat and he jumps, grabbing his seat belt and securing it around his waist

"Are you ready to go?" he asks me and I nod, putting my seat belt on too, and Jax reverses out of the driveway

"Do you have the directions to the doctor's office?" he asks me when we are halfway down the street

"Uh yes," I say and I put the directions into the navigation system which he studies at the red light.

"So how have you been," he says to me as we sit in silence

"Um... yeah pretty good... you?" I ask

"Yeah really good" he replies and we sit in silence for the rest of the journey

It's only a 20-minute drive to Violet's doctor's office, but it feels like an eternity, Jax is focused on the road ahead, and I can't help but study him.

I notice how he has grown his hair out longer, and I remember how I told him I liked his hair long when we were 16, and how he has been working out, so I can see his muscles peeking through his t-shirt. I also notice the small amount of stubble he is growing. He looks gorgeous.

He pulls up to the office and reverses parks before we walk into the office. He grabs a hold of the baby bag and the car seat and waves me off when I go to protest. I follow him into the clinic and we go up to the counter, the receptionist looks up at me

"Hi, my daughter has an appointment at 10 am," I say and she looks at the computer "Violet Bell" 

"I have a Violet Sh-"she begins and I cut her off immediately

"Yes," I say and she smiles at me, whilst I notice Jax make a face out the corner of my eye

"Take a seat, Doctor Goodman shouldn't be too long," she says

I move to the open seats and sit in one, Jax placing the baby seat down next to me and I leave Violet in it, she is content right now

I see Jax open his mouth but before he can ask me any questions I say to him

"Violet hasn't had any shots yet, so I don't know how she is going to react"

"That's okay" he replies

"Are you sure, you can wait out here I don't mind"

"No, I want to come in, I'm here to help you and Vi today" he replies

"Vi?" I ask

"I've heard the family call her that," he says and I smile and stand up hearing Doctor Goodman.

I grab the baby bag this time and Jax grabs the baby and we follow her down the hallway, she opens her office door and I walk in, I take the baby seat from Jax and I place it on the bed, Jax stands behind me whilst the doctors sit at her desk.

I take Violet out of the car seat and move to the 2 seats opposite her desk, and Jax sits beside me

"Good morning Tori," she says

"Morning Alice" I reply and she looks at Jax

"This is Jackson, Jackson Shepherd," I say and she nods, she knows our history and everything about Jax, I do however hope that she doesn't bring up him knowing that he's her dad yet

"Hello Jackson" she replies and she looks at me so I shake my head slightly, she nods and I know she isn't going to say anything

"Now, I head we are doing our vaccinations today," she says

"Yes, she was 5 pounds 1 ounce when she was born so they didn't want to do them then, and she's due for all of the others too," I say

"Perfect, I have her records here, so we'll do a small exam to check to see how she is and then give her her shots" she replies and stands up

"Did you mind undressing her and placing her on the bed" she asks "I am going to grab the vaccines" she adds and walks out the room

I take Violet over to the bed and take her out of her onesie and I hand it to Jax who has followed me over. Doctor Goodman comes back 5 minutes later and takes her measurements deeming her well.

"Now, time for the scary bit," she says and swipes a finger over Violet's nose "Now mum, I'm going to give her the injection and put a bandaid over the spots, you can pick her up as soon as I am done," she says and I nod bracing myself

"Are you ready Violet?" she says and Violet musters a small smile, and Alice uncaps the needle and proceeds to vaccinate her, she immediately starts to scream, and I feel so helpless as a mother, this process is 30 seconds, and I don't realise I am crying until my cheeks are wet.

As soon as she is done, I scoop Violet up and hug her to my chest, calming her down. She's still screaming in my arms and I can't calm her, which makes me cry harder, and before I know it Jax has his arms covered around me.

I finally calm Violet, and break from Jax's grip, and dress her. Doctor Goodman in this time has slipped out of the room. I then place her in her car seat and wipe her eyes where her little tears were, I then cover her with the blanket, and give her the dummy.

I then look at Jax again with tears still filled in my eyes, and Jax opens his arms again, and I fall into them, and he just holds me.
