Guilt

I don't wanna keep staying up all night,
Waiting for the party to end.
I don't wanna join in this fight
And watch my only soul bend,
But when it's the time and the moon casts down,
Strange shadows float around
This empty little town.
I can still hear the echoes
Of the screams and cries and see
People ready to end something dear.
Is this the life that I wanna remember,
Not like those cherished nights of summer
When the world was pretty and hope's in the air,
With people smiling and showing care?
If I just stand aside and watch it all burn,
It will haunt me and eat me till I want to turn
The time around again.
