Max was asleep in Ryders grasp, this time when Ryder's alarm went off he turned it off, refusing to budge. Thankfully the company he worked for got shut down for investigation of mistreating employees. Many of Ryder's  co-workers have stated and complained to the governor about ths issue. So everyone was laid off but still getting pay while searching for new jobs.

Ryder squinted his blue eyes open and turned around, grabbing the clock and shutting it off completely. It was early but Ryder didn't mind it too much. He never told Max about the incident at work to not worry out the ginger even more. Gently Ryder moved Max, making the brown eyes ones head fall softly onto the pillow. Standing up, Ryder made his way to the kitchen and stared blankly at the stove. "What am I going to make?" He murmured under his breath.

It was only 6 at this point and Ryder didn't feel like cooking although being hungry. Walking over to the TV Ryder switched it on flipping through channels, watching a random one. An hour passed by and the door to Ryder's room squeaked open, with Max leaving and shutting it.

"Ryder? Why are you still here?" Max asked.

Ryder bit his lip, nervous to tell Max the truth about his job.

"Well I, u..uh you see, t..the thing is, ugh!" Ryder let out, failing at forming a sentence.

"Take a breath Ryder, please," Max tells him.

After taking a deep breath Ryder looks at Max.

"My job... let us go a week ago because of issues. I've just been going out to random places to make it seem like I still have it," Ryder explained.

He eyed Max trying to read an upset expression but couldn't make anything out. Max's eyebrows were raised from being surprised but he wasn't completely angry.

"Hey, it's okay Ryder, it's bound to happen," Max said softly.

"But now I feel like a failure, I bet I can't get a job!" Ryder cried out, tears starting to form in his eyes.

"Ryder listen to me, a lot of people are letting go, being laid off, it's a part of life."

"But the family is going to say I'm like you because you quit SkyMedia."

"SkyMedia was my past, I don't think about it anymore. Sometimes the best decision is to let everything go and find what makes you the happiest."

Ryder's teary eyes looked at Max's soft looking orbs, immersed pulling him into a hug. Max hugged him back smiling softly. After a while Ryder let go of Max's shirt, allowing Max to get up and cook some breakfast.

"Why is KP here but Ross isn't?" Ryder asked.

"I'm assuming Ross forgot about her,'' Max responded.

Ryder made that a mental note and went into his room. After switching into normal daytime clothes he stepped into the living space seeing Max finish up breakfast. Max glanced over slightly to see his favorite cousin stand there.

"Eggs, bacon, and toast," Max smiled as Ryder sat down at the island. The apartment didn't have a lot of space, restricting a dining table to they settled on the island. Max got the food onto a plate, handing it to Ryder.

"What do you want for a drink?" Max asked.

"Orange juice is fine," Ryder answered.

After eating breakfast Max put KP in her travel cage, picking it up then heading to a vet clinic. Once signing in he say down and waited patiently. The door opened, with a bell ringing each time someone entered. Max realized he needed to get KP checked out and see if he could get a new chip for her as well.

The man felt pressure being shifted down beside him, letting Max know someone sat next to him while he was on his phone. "Max, long time no see," a voice spoke.

Max's heart immediately dropped when he heard the voice, the voice belonging to a man who caused damage to him in the past, resulting in quitting his job. "A...Adam," Max responded shakily not daring to make eye contact.

"Surprised to see you here man."

"Why are you in New York?"

"Tim called me over and so... I'm just hanging out with him and Ross," Adam responsed.

Suddenly Max's eyes weld up with tears as Adam explained his presence in the clinic. "I'm just grabbing a prescription for my dog."

Adam  looked at Max, who by now was crying his eyes out, not daring to let out a noise that would be considered weak. "Max? Buddy are you okay?" Adam asked with concern.

Max just continued to cry not wanting to let his old boss see his weak side. "Max please talk to me," Adam pretty much begged.

"I...I...," Max tried to speak but he kept getting choked on his tears.

"Deep breaths Max, deep breaths," Adam responsed. After taking about ten deep breaths Max finally diverted his attention to Adam.

"Ross and I had a fallout and now he's with Tim, the guy abuses Ross, I feel powerless," Max began. Adam sat there his eyes growing wide with what Max is saying.

"I'm trying to be a good friend but these feelings keep coming over me, Ross treated my cousin like shit one day so I kicked him out, he later went with Tim back home. And now apparently they're together and I just know deep down that it isn't Ross. The Ross I know would do everything in his power to stay away from Tim but this, this is a mess." Max explained almost going back to being in tears.

Adam pulled Max close to him, almost hugging him out of temptation but didn't.

"Then go and win your best friend back, even if it means to knock him out under any circumstances just do it, do what you need to do to save him," Adam responsed in a kind manner.

Max nodded and they exchanged numbers. It was odd for the both of them but Adam still wanted to remain in Max's life.

"Max? Sir we're ready to check on the cat," a veterinarian spoke. Max rose from his seated position and walked to the back with the vet.
