Josephine Laurier— Josie for short— grew up hearing adorable, dreamlike stories about her Grandmother's first love. By twelve she'd known every detail like the back of her hand: from the red polka-dot dress she'd been wearing when they met to the exact words the bugger had uttered when he broke it off (which were indeed, corny, as she'd have you know).
What she didn't know, however, was that her Grandmother's alleged heart-breaker was a new resident at the retirement home she regularly visited. And to her surprise, he has a grandson who also regularly visits and claims her story is wrong and that it was the other way around.
As the two work together to solve the mystery of the breakup through little notes left on tables and counters, they grow closer and face their traumas, finding out it's quite okay to have someone to lean on.

yes, it's a romance. but i want to emphasize the importance of it being more than just that. instead of the book revolving around their romance, it revolves around who the characters are and how they learn to cope, and it shows their stories as they sort of realize it's okay to not be okay. the romance is a simply, eh, a byproduct, if you will.
happy reading :~)
for my own record; all the previous covers this novel has had (all made by me).
