A/N: If you're confused, read the chapter before my most recent author's note. I kind of rewrote that chapter completely, and yeah... If you haven't read it yet, it might make sense to-

Todoroki's POV:

School just ended. I was heading out of the building with Yaoyorozu, Jirou, Midoriya and Iida. They were chatting happily. This is obviously usual behavior for them, but this time it was becoming really irritating.

I tried my best to block out the noise as well as I could, trying to focus. I was still incredibly anxious about what I was going to do.

I couldn't get Fuyumi's words out of my head.

"He could kill you!"

I've always known that my situation with my father was serious, but that thought was stuck at the back of my head. No matter how often my siblings would tell me that the situation was serious, I never really registered it until I heard those words escape Fuyumi's mouth.

"-oki-kun! Todoroki-kun!"

I was snapped out of my daze.

"A-Ah, sorry. What is it, Midoriya?"

"I asked whether everything's okay. You look troubled", Midoriya said, a slightly worried smile plastered on his face.

"Oh, apologies, Midoriya. I was just thinking about something..."

We then continued walking.

As we exited the gates, Midoriya and Uraraka took a turn right while Yaoyorozu, Jirou and Iida crossed the road and I turned left towards my mother's hospital.

It was an approximately 10 minute walk for me this time, since I was going relatively fast.

I checked in at the front desk and then made my way to the third floor, where my mother was staying.

I took a deep breath, knocked on the door and slowly slid it open.

"Shoto!", my mother exclaimed and walked over to me, a genuine happy smile on her lips.

Throwing my arms around her, I whispered a "Hello mum" back. I missed this. A lot actually. we stayed like this for maybe two minutes before my mother let go and cupped my cheeks.

"How've you been, Shoto?", she said, caressing my cheek.

"I- I've been- been fine."

She looked at me for a few moments, before turning around and sitting on her bed.

A small, sad smile made its way onto her face, as she said: "Shoto... you can't lie to me..."

That was true. I had never really been the best at lying to my mother.
She patted the mattress next to her and I sat down. She sighed,

"Now... How have you actually been?"

"Honestly, not really great...", I gazed at her. She had an understanding look on her face as she signaled for me to continue, "Umm... He's- well..." I didn't know how to say it.

"I know that.. Fuyumi and Natsuo told me about that already... They mentioned how he was practically keeping you from visiting me at this point?"

"I- yes... I- I'm sorry, mum..."

"It's fine. But why're you here now?"

I told her about the situation. How Fuyumi called me. How she made me promise not to go back home. About how my father was feeling at the moment. His anger more specifically.
