Chapter 7: The Ogres

Rimuru and I explained what had happened to Shizu. It was already evening when we were finished. Rigurd and Ranga were outside the whole time. They all seemed sad at this.

"I see. So Shizu has passed away."

"Are you really Rimuru?"

His question was understandable. Rimuru was a slime and now he looked like a human.

"There can be no doubt!"

"Did you really think I wouldn't recognize my master just because his body changed?!"

"Uh, no, I didn't mean it that way... It's just, well... You look a bit like a smaller Shizu."

He was right. He did look like a smaller Shizu. 

"It's true. See?"

Rimuru went back to his slime form.

"Wow!"

"That's quite remarkable."

"Did you eat Shizu? The way you ate Ifrit?"

"It was the only burial I could give her. And also her last wish. I'm sorry I didn't consult you, her adventurer companions, first."

"Well... If it was her wish, there was no other choice."

"Sorry, Eren. You probably think this was unreasonable."

She shook her head.

"No. I just wish I could have said goodbye to her."

"Shizu-san said she had fun traveling with you three. Though she also said you were a little danger-prone."

Eren and Gido both looked at Kaval.

"Hey! Why are you two looking at me that way?"

"Well, you know..."

"Yeah."

"Well, what about the time you got caught in that pitfall?!"

"That was because Eren pushed me!"

"Hey! Don't blame me for that! A spider landed on me out of nowhere!"

They started arguing. Well, I guess this suits them better than being sad. I'm sure Shizu would have preferred this.

Later

"We appreciate all your help. We'll be on our way now."

"Back to your home country?"

"Yeah, we need to report to the Guildmaster about our findings, and about Shizu. We won't say anything bad about this place."

"We'll tell him about you two, too."

"If anything comes up, you can always send for us."

"Thanks. We'll do that."

They looked at each other, nodded and looked at Rimuru.

"There's one last favor we'd like to ask..."

"What is it?"

"Could you take your human form again?"

"Sure, I suppose..."

Rimuru transformed into his human form. He was wearing the shirt that Shizu had.

"So what is it you want?"

The three of them smiled happily and bowed their heads.

"Thank you so much, Shizu!"

They're good people. 

"I'll strive to be the kind of leader you won't have to worry about!"

"My time adventuring with you will be the treasure of my life!"
