Night was upon Gotham again. And tonight, the grandest building in the city was brightly lit, preparing itself for the special occasion. At the entrance of the large building, cameras were set up and reporters were lining up, interviewing guests when they entered the red carpet. Clickings and flashings of light were everywhere but it got more chaotic when a beautiful white car pulled up to the front of the crimson carpet and a goddess-like young lady stepped out. The reporters went crazy, all wanted to get in front and be the first to interview the young marine biologist.
"Miss Hale, look over here!"
"Miss Hale, please can I have a few moments?"
"What made you decided to collab with Wayne Enterprise?"
Percy smiled and waved, but didn't reply. Annabeth stepped out after her and together they walked towards the grand tall building. Their pace showed no rush or awkwardness, authority and power radiated off of them, so much so that the other guests turned their heads to them, some even made way for the two young women.
Even though Percy was calm and stoic-faced on the outside, inside she was sweating bullets. She intentionally picked out a pure white, v-necked dress paired with a large golden belt; the old Percy would never wear a dress so...outgoing, and that's exactly what she was hoping for. Her hair was braided on the side and linked to the back by her favorite porcelain seashell hairpin.
"Why did I agree to do this again?" She mumbled to Annabeth.
Annabeth looked stunning tonight with a fiery red dress and matching high-heels. Her hair twisted up into a bun at the back with a silver-winged hairclip. She gave Percy a raised eyebrow.
"You're doing this for the benefit of your business. For the good of Oceania Aquarium and Research Facility."
"Right. I forgot that it was a research facility too..."
"And that's why I'm here tonight, Kelp Brain. To be a human-memo."
Up at the highest floor of the building, where tonight's main party is located, a figure was paying close attention to the red carpet below. His gaze was unfocused until it wandered to a figure in white, a complicated look crossed his bright-blue eyes and the corner of his thin lips twisted up into a small smirk.
"It's all at Fate's will..." The words flowed out of his lips easily as he recalled the day he first met the woman. Well, he better get ready, the guests are arriving...
Percy almost fell when she entered the elevator. Annabeth caught her by the arm just in time before she could make a scene of herself in front of the camera.
"Geez," Commented Annabeth. "For someone who has been attending galas and parties since a young age, you sure are inexperienced when it comes to dresses and heels."
Percy gave her a deep-panned look. "Jokes on you, all the past galas I have attended, not a single one of them I have worn a decent dress to. It's always dress pants or pantsuits for me." She looks down at her white heels with distaste. "As for heels, I always wore cat heels in case of a possible chase. But if I can, I'd wear tennis shoes."
Annabeth face-palmed, "You're the most unladylike lady I have ever met. No wonder Piper looks up to you."
"Why thank you."
The door opened and their expression quickly morphed from relaxed to serious. Percy looked out at the familiar yet strange hall, she had been here so many times before as Persephone, the adopted daughter of Bruce Wayne, and tonight she turns again but as Beryl Hale, the famous young marine biologist.
She had to control herself from tearing up when Bruce came to greet them. Sure she had seen him as Batman up at the Watchtower but it's so different seeing him as just Bruce Wayne, her guardian for the longest time. Percy had thought about coming back after the first war was won, but before she could, Hera the freak decided to yeet her across the country and take her memories along the way.
