amelia woke up staring at the ceiling as her alarm blared, just as she went to hit snooze on it her mom came in. "nope not today" she said

"why? it's just one day, please" amelia begged

emily shook her head "you promised school first"

"i know but you aren't the one who has to dance with your ex that cheated on you" amelia said sitting up

"just pretend it's someone else, pretend it's that tom holland person that you like" emily shrugged "you've gotta go in, i'm sorry honey"

amelia sighed but stood up none the less, she changed into the black dress that she was being forced to wear for the dance performance before walking over to her vanity to style her hair. her phone rang as she started to braid it, noticing it was a facetime from julie, she swiped to answer and leant the phone against the mirror

"my dad got us a gig" julie announced as soon as her face popped up on the screen

"hello to you too jules" amelia laughed

julie smiled sheepishly "sorry, i just got excited, it's nothing special, he felt bad about the whole manager situation so he is throwing us a party"

"he got us a gig at your own house?" amelia questioned

"well yeah, but he said that he would film it professionally so we can put it on youtube" julie grinned

"awww he would do that for us?" she asked

rays voice popped up in the background "of course i would"

"love you papa ray!" amelia shouted, she heard him laugh in the background "anyway jules, why couldn't this wait? i'm picking you up in like 10 minutes. oh crap, i'm leaving in ten minutes"

amelia frantically continued braiding her hair before grabbing her backpack off the floor, she picked up the phone and ran downstairs.

"don't be late" julie teased

"me? late? never" amelia giggled as she entered the kitchen

"i'll believe that when i see it" mitch spoke up form behind her

"ha ha hilarious dad" amelia turned to face him, taken aback slightly seeing luke sat on the chair next to him. it wasn't uncommon but it still makes her jump "did you manage to convince mom that i shouldn't have to go through the trauma of dancing with ollie?"

"you know your mother, she's stubborn as a board" mitch chuckled

"come on it can't be that bad" julie's voice broke through

"jules, you can't talk, you've had a crush on nick for like years, even if you don't like him anymore, he is still your friend" amelia told him, nothing luke watching her curiously "i have to dance with the person i hate the most"

"just kick him in the shins" julie said at the same time as luke. julie looked shocked to hear luke through the phone, not realising he was there

"no kicking him in the shins" emily said walking back into the kitchen and handing her daughter a packet of breakfast biscuits for her journey.

"way to ruin the fun" amelia chuckled "thank you, see you later. bye jules pick you up in 5"

"bye queen" julie grinned and hung up the call

amelia shook her head and grabbed her car keys off the counter "goodbye family, love you all" with that she ran out the door to drive to julies

amelia was putting her books in her locker, mentally hyping herself up for her performance, as she shut her locker she was met with the face of reggie "oh my god" she gasped "people don't do that, and ghosts definitely shouldn't"

"sorry" reggie chuckled

amelia noticed people staring at her, so held up her finger and pulled out her phone. reggie noticed this and gasped in offence

"you're just gonna take a phone call when we were talking?"

"thanks for calling, i don't wanna be sent to a mental asylum because i was talking to myself" amelia grinned

"oooo that's smart" reggie grinned

"so what's up?"

"nothing much, i just wanted to check in with you, i know its your dance thing with ollie today" reggie said

amelia nodded "i tried to convince mom that i didn't need to be here but she said no"

reggie went to say something else, when ollie walked over with savannah in tow. "amelia"

"oliver" amelia said in the same tone, savannah coughed slightly, making amelia roll her eyes "savannah"

"are you ready for the performance? it needs to be good, coach said my place in the team depends on it" ollie said

amelia forced a grin on her face, and with a sudden burst of confidence spat "oh honey, if anyone needs to be ready it's not the girl who's danced her whole life"

"don't speak to him like that" savannah spat back

"oh i'm sorry, i didn't realise it was okay for him to degrade me but when i try to do it to him it's wrong" amelia said "i'll think before i speak next time, now if you excuse me"

amelia turned around, flicking her hair and walking away, reggie in tow. "that was amazing" he giggled

"i don't know where that came from" the brunette replied, they turned a corner and saw julie stood at her locker talking to luke "julie!"

julies head whipped around at the sound of her voice, amelia then ran and hugged her tightly "i totally just stood up to ollie again!"

"pop off queen" julie beamed

amelia's eyes flicked to luke, who was staring at them, his eyes then flicking to reggie as a smirk appeared on his face. "what we're you two talking about?" amelia asked

both of them seemed to get slightly flustered "oh erm just about the song we were going to sing tonight, we decided on 'great' and we thought to could take the lead" julie explained

"why me?"

"because your amazing, duh" reggie answered

"you know what? why don't we just ditch school and go rehearse" luke said

"mom already told me no" amelia answered "you were there"

"no, i promised dad school first"

"yeah and your at school first, and now your leaving" luke sent her a dopey grin "come on, we can't do this without you"

"i can't, plus i told nick id be his dance partner"

"hey julie" nicks voice called as he walked towards the 'pair'

"and he's coming this way" julie plastered a smile on

"hey" he said glancing between julie and amelia

amelia pretended to look at her watch "oh my would you look at the time, better get going" before she walked off down the corridor

"we have the same lesson" julie called after her

"sorry can't hear you, too far away!" amelia called back, a teasing smile on her lips

"kill it in there meels!" reggie called after her before poofing out, leaving a jealous luke, julie and nick.
