Ethan.

FUCKING ETHAN.

The surprise must have been written all over my face as Ethan and I locked eyes. It felt like he was peering into the depths of my soul, and for a moment, time stood still. Our enchanting gaze was abruptly interrupted by the sound of Principal Victoria clearing her throat, reminding us of the presence of the esteemed figure before us.

"Ahem, excuse me," she interjected, her tone demanding attention and professionalism.

Startled, Ethan and I swiftly pulled apart, realizing we had been lost in our own little world. Principal Victoria's expression shifted, a hint of amusement twinkling mischievously in her eyes.

"Well, well, it seems you two are already acquainted," she remarked, her voice tinged with amusement.

"Um, yeah, we actually go way back," I replied, trying to regain my composure.

"Well, isn't that fascinating," Principal Victoria continued, her voice now infused with a more authoritative tone. "Allow me to formally introduce you, Ambrose, to Ethan Hawthorne, one of our star students. He's been a straight-A achiever since his sophomore year, showcasing exceptional academic skills and an impressive creative streak."

Ethan couldn't help but flash a self-assured smirk, confident in his abilities. "I mean, I'm always raising the bar," he chimed in with a playful tone.

I rolled my eyes playfully at his remark, feeling the warmth of our connection. Many people might expect an alpha and omega to be nothing more than mates, but Ethan and I had defied those conventions. Our friendship had always been something special, something beyond societal norms.

"Alright, Ambrose, I'd like you to show Mr. Hawthorne around the school," Principal Victoria instructed, her voice firm but kind. "You two have similar schedules, so getting around won't be a problem. And don't worry about being late; just inform your teachers about the situation, alright?"

I nodded eagerly, a smile tugging at my lips. "Absolutely, Miss. Anything else?"

"Yes, Mr. Hawthorne, if you could give us a moment," she replied, more as a statement than a request.

Ethan nodded understandingly, giving me a playful wink before exiting the office.

Principal Victoria regained her composed demeanor, focusing her attention on me once more. "Now, Ambrose, it's wonderful to see you reconnecting with an old friend. I hope this brings some much-needed positivity into your life. However, don't forget to stay focused on your responsibilities as a student."

I met her gaze with gratitude. "Thank you, Miss. I'll make sure to show Ethan around and keep everything on track."

"Very well," she said, offering me a reassuring smile. "You may proceed now."

As I stepped outside, I caught sight of Ethan casually leaning against the opposite wall. The sight of him instantly brought a wide grin to both our faces. Without a second thought, I dropped my belongings and darted into his waiting arms. He effortlessly scooped me up, my legs wrapping around his waist as we spun in a moment of pure exhilaration. A giggle escaped me, and for that fleeting instant, all seemed right in the world.

Eventually, we had to come back down to Earth, letting our feet touch the ground once more. But our connection remained strong, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment as we stood there, locked in each other's embrace. Little did we realize that the hallway had fallen silent, with curious eyes watching our reunion. Ignoring the audience, I nuzzled my head back into the crook of Ethan's neck, cherishing the warmth and familiarity he offered.
