Chapter 24 - Growing Feelings

The business took longer than expected, so Chase stayed in there for a few months. He first approached Anna by sending her a simple email asking about her health, to which Anna replied in friendly way.

'Maybe she has become fond of me after that meeting' He thought while smiling like a fool looking at the laptop on his lap as he lay comfortably on his bed.

Unfortunately, the other other person couldn't be more unbothered, she just read the contents without caring much about the sender. And after seeing that the person was just asking about her well being she also responded in a friendly way.

Joy's lips slightly twitched when she saw this, and she facepalmed herself when she read that the sender was Chase. She wanted to tell Anna about what she had done.

But just when she decided to open her mouth, she saw Anna's annoyed face as she looked at the proposals. So, she simple shut her mouth and slipped out of the room.

This way after exchanging a few emails, Chase eventually asked for her personal number so that he could message her directly. Anna also did not find anything wrong in exchanging numbers, because the other person could be a good friend.

But what she didn't know was that the moment the other person got her number he immediately started smiling like a fool in the middle of a meeting, making the other people's jaws drop and an awkward silence to fill the room.

Nick slightly fake coughed to bring his boss's attention back to the meeting, to which the other party simply replied by giving him water to ease his throat.

He looked at the glass with a dumbfounded expression as the others present could not help but feel pity towards him for having such a job. When Nick finally verbalised his thoughts, Chase simply looked up and said, "Meeting dismissed".

This way both of them started to constantly message each other in their free time, although they never called because they both preferred texting.

Time flied, and finally after three months Chase returned. He was more excited than usual because now that both of them had become friends he could invite her to hang out with him.

Although he knew that his feelings were not completely sorted, he knew that he liked and welcomed Anna's presence in his life alot.

Seeing his boss being so ecstatic about returning, Nick could not help but sigh and shake his head. They travelled for one whole day, before finally reaching the airport.

Chase was feeling airsick, so he booked a hotel room and immediately retired, but not before sending Anna a good night message. He slept peacefully without any disturbances.

Anna was packing up her documents and things, when her phone's notification rung, she kept the documents down as she went towards her desk to see what had come.

But what greeted her was not her secretary or her family, but a sweet good night message from Chase. She couldn't help but chuckle and a gentle smile appeared on her face.

She had been talking to this iceberg to a few months and realised that he had a warm heart even though he appeared cold on the outside. Although what she did not know was that it was only for her.

She discarded all her thoughts as she picked up all the things and started heading towards her home. She took a long bath as she soaked herself in the warm water and the fatigue slowly faded away.

She then got up, wore her night robe and went to the study to review some documents. After that she ate some snacks and went to get her beauty sleep.
