Imagine- you have been trying to get close to Bucky by visiting him. You haven't gotten far except when you were a bit late to one of your visits and it got him worrying

Since Bucky came to the tower. He's only ever talked to Steve.
Y/n will occasionally come into his room to talk to him but he never answers.

Despite this he always finds your presence calming and your visits nice. But he was afraid to hurt your. And you seem to notice this because you put a forcefield around yourself as if to reassure him he won't hurt you.

Bucky will rarely come out of his room and is always trying to remember something about his past.

Y/n would bring him meals at the same time everyday. It installed a sense of comfort and familiarity in Bucky and always waited for your visits.

Everyday at 9, 12, 3 and 6, you would come to his room. 9, 12, and 6 you would bring food and at three you would just show up.

You have never been late until one day. Bucky was waiting for your visit at 3. He kept looking at the cloak until it turned the hour, which is when you normally show up, but when the clock hit three, you didn't show up.

This made Bucky worried. He tried to reassure himself that you just lost track of time and would be here in a few minutes.

3:05 had hit and you still weren't there. Bucky began pacing around his room, worrying about you.

'What if she's hurt? What if Hydra got to her? What if she's having to fight off agents?' He thought. These thoughts didn't go away and just kept him worrying.

"Hey...Jarvis?" Bucky called to the AI.

"Yes Mr.Barnes," Jarvis responded.

"Where is Y/n?" He asked, desperately.

"Ms. L/n is currently out right now but she should be back soon," he answered, "she told me to reassure you that she is fine and you do not have to worry."

Of course this didn't calm him. He still worried about you. Hydra could have easily kidnapped you and used you as leverage against him.

A knock at the door took him out of his thoughts. Your rhythm you always had when you knock.

He basically ran to the door and opened up.

You were standing there, a brown box in your hands. You looked up at Bucky's face, as he was taller then you.

"Hey sorry I'm late. I went to get something," you showed him the box in your hands.

He wrapped his arms around you in relief, glad your not hurt. This took you by surprise. You couldn't really hug him back because of the box.

"What's this about," you asked.

"I was worried," he spoke.

"Well, let me put this down and we can share them together. I'm sure this will help," you said.

He let go of you and you both sat on his bed. You put the box in front of you and opened.

"Annnd.... tada!" You turned around the box so Bucky could see it was full of plums.

"I spent some time researching things that could help bring back someone's memories because I knew you've been trying to remember things and apparently plums were the first thing that came up. So today I went to the store to grab the best ones they had," you explained.

He didn't answer for a few seconds, stunned at your gesture. You smiled at him.

"Thank you," he answered.

"I guess this could also work as a 'I'm sorry' gift for being late and worrying you," you added on.

He took one of the plums out of the box and bit into it. You did the same. You groaned at the taste.

"I haven't had plums in so long and I'm glad I got the fresh ones. These are so good," you said.

Bucky smiles at you and took another bite of his plum.

"You know, whether these work or not for helping you remember, they are still good to eat either way. And I don't think I've eaten yet today," you thought out loud.

"What?" Bucky asked immediately after.

"Nothing," you said, pretending not to have said anything. Bucky sighs.

"Why haven't you eaten anything today?" He asked you.

"In all honesty I forgot. I do normally eat everyday but I just forgot today because I wasn't hungry," you explained. Bucky just sighed again, knowing he can't change the past.

The both of you lapses into silence as you both continued eating the plums. You were deep in bought while doing so.

"You know, this is actually the first time you've actually talked to me. I've always talked to you when I visit but you never respond. Always staying silent. Maybe a nod or something like that but never words," you realized.

"Really?" Bucky asked.

"Yep," you answered.

"Well I'm sorry I didn't talk sooner," Bucky said playfully.

You smiled at him and took another plum, happy you finally got him to open up to you.
