My gaze wandered to my right, finding my girlfriend nibbling on her thumb again as she was completely engrossed in her book. She hadn't even noticed that the car came to a halt in front of the pizza place. I leaned back in my seat and just watched her for a moment. On any other day, I would've simply let her be. Admiring her as she didn't notice anything around her anymore. The things she unconsciously did, the soft gasps, sighs and hums she released due to what was happening in the plot. Smiles, frowns and sometimes tears... There was something so sincere and intuitive about her. Truly captured by the story. I loved watching her or even better, holding her throughout. Just having her in my arms as she was reading, so that when a soft sound escaped her lips, I could find out why by glancing at the pages. Y/N sometimes found my company bothersome when I couldn't stop myself from kissing, caressing or hugging her tighter, which distracted her. However, not all too rarely, she was the one to turn her head for a kiss or pull mine down into the crook of her neck. There had also been moments when she abruptly closed the book and next thing I knew, we were naked and moaning for each other. No matter the development, being around her while she was reading would always be one of my favorite things to do. Even now, I felt like just sitting here for the rest of the day. I would happily do so - if it wasn't today. My hand reached out to her thigh for a soft squeeze as my lips planted a kiss on her cheek to snap her back into reality. Y/N almost flinched at the unexpected actions. She looked out of the windows to check where we were and then flashed me a grin.
"Go without me."
Cocking a brow at her, I smirked back just as brightly.
"Not happening."
She rolled her eyes at me in return.
"Just place the order and come back."
Her gaze wandered back to the pages on her lap, so I gently lowered the book with my index finger to regain her attention.
"No, you will put that book down and come with me.", I retorted.
My girlfriend pouted irritatedly.
"Why so mean? I want to read."
"Maybe tomorrow.", I winked, which caused her to squint her eyes and get upset with me now.
"You don't get to order me around.", Y/N clarified and stubbornly hid her face behind the book to proceed reading. I eyed for a second and accepted the challenge with a shrug.
"Fine."
Her gaze found back to me just when I dragged my shirt over my head.
"What are you doing?"
I tugged the fabric down my arms and lightheartedly answered: "You'd rather keep reading and I'd rather be shirtless in this heat."
"Very funny."
That was when I made eye contact with her again as my hand reached out for the door handle.
"If you say so."
Her eyes subtly widened when she realized I was actually about to leave like this.
"You will not go in there as a walking thirst trap. Put it back on."
"You don't get to order me around.", I mocked.
Y/N pursed her lips, nostrils slightly flaring as she huffed: "Blackmailer."
"Bookworm.", I countered.
That made her chuckle in disbelief.
"I don't take that as an insult."
"You weren't supposed to. I don't insult you."
"Why are you doing this?", she sighed, dropped her head against the headrest and closed the book with her index finger between the pages.
"Join me and the shirt goes back where it belongs.", I replied, even though I wouldn't have seriously left like this.
My girlfriend sent me an amused glare.
"Cut the crap. No clothes belong anywhere near our bodies when we're alone."
I licked my lips and leaned closer to her.
"Truer words have never been spoken. Sadly, we aren't exactly alone right now.", I mumbled.
Y/N also leaned in and brought her nose against mine.
"Not yet. Fine, I'm coming."
"Already? And I haven't even touched you yet.", I joked, making her shake her head.
She drew back, slipped the bookmark I made her a while ago into the book and put it on the backseat.
"I hope that wasn't the peak of your humor."
Our little banter put a grin on my face as I slipped my shirt back on and then got out of the car with her. She refused to take my hand, probably as a punishment, but immediately did so when we entered pizza place. Internally, I was laughing at the way she wrapped her arm around mine and leaned against me, eyes stern.
"Hi, Jungkook."
"Hi, Sarah.", I greeted the girl behind the counter. She wore a beaming smile that slightly faded when she glanced to the left.
"And hi, Y/N."
"Hi.", my girlfriend forced herself to reply, but didn't bother to make eye contact.
"Same as always?", Sarah turned back to me.
I looked down at my princess and nudged her with my shoulder.
"Would you like anything else?", I asked. "No."
I leaned down further to mumble into her hair.
"You sure? Not some cinnamon bread sticks with extra icing for example?"
"Jungkook!", Y/N instantly gasped and hit my chest with wide eyes.
"We could simply eat them this time.", I suggested.
Her cheeks became even redder, which made her that much cuter. I had to hold back a laugh and glanced back at Sarah.
"Same as always, thank you."
She nodded and placed the order, seemingly ignoring the little interaction she had just witnessed. My girlfriend was glaring at me for the tease, but kept holding on to me tight as before. She had her priorities figured out and being pouty with me was not at the top of the list. I assumed it was a mix of anxiety and claiming me, but either way, I pecked her temple.
"So what are your plans now?", Sarah started a conversation, eyes only fixed on me though.
"We're going to the same university, but I'll be studying art while Y/N will study literature.", I replied.
"Art? I never would've seen you as an artist."
"Probably because you don't know him that well.", Y/N countered with a fake smile and clicked her tongue.
"It's surely unexpected for a lot of people.", I intervened, pulled her in front of me to wrap my arms around her and couldn't help but smirk a bit. This was quite amusing to me.
I interlaced my other hand with hers on the other side of her waist and purred: "Pull yourself together a little, kitten."
She averted her gaze from Sarah, but elbowed me lightly as response to my words.
I snickered.
The door behind us opened, so we took a few steps to the side to make way for the customer.
"Hello. I called in like twenty minutes ago. Large triple cheese with jalapeños and penne Napoli.", he said after walking up to the counter.
"Coming right up."
Sarah disappeared in the back to get his order, meaning he had time to notice us.
Out of all people...
"Oh hey, Y/N...and Jungkook.", Namjoon first grinned, then gulped.
Y/N straightened her back, a cunning smile surely on her lips.
"Hey, Namjoon."
"Hey", I also greeted him, but had a hard time hiding my displeasure.
Of course the universe had to even things out and now I was the one with the bitter feeling.
"I heard we'll see each other a lot more in fall.", he mentioned, leaving my jaw clenched.
"Really? You're going to the same university as us? What are you studying?", Y/N gasped almost excitedly, making me reflexively tighten my hold around her.
"I contemplated for a while, but decided on poetry and creative writing.", Namjoon answered.
I turned my head away, so he wouldn't see how I took a deep breath and mentally cursed at the ceiling.
"I always had a soft spot for literature and creative writing.", my girlfriend shrugged, making him smile with a weird shimmer in his eyes.
"What a coincidence."
"Maybe I should think about joining some lectures as well.", I chimed in, his smile dying down.
