(Mai is seen arguing with Skarlet)
Skarlet: You should know that Shao Kahn is very strict, especially when he punishes those who fail him so many times.
Mai: Just because he’s your emperor, it doesn’t mean he can boss me around every time!
Skarlet: Should I remind you that Ozai has failed?
Mai: You think I care?
Skarlet: You should! Fail Shao Kahn again and you’ll get yourself killed. (walks away) The same goes if you dare to betray him!
(As Skarlet walks away, Raiden, Kung Jin and Denki Kaminari come in)
Mai: You again? You never learn, do you?
Kung Jin: I beat you once, remember?
Mai: (scoffs) They told me about your uncle being as arrogant as you are.
Denki: Hey! Do not talk with us like this!
Mai: You’re my enemies! And I’ll show you how I deal with my enemies!
(Enraged, Denki tries to shoot Mai, but she deflects each shot. Kung Jin joins the shooting, but Mai is quick enough to deflect his shoots too. As she keeps deflecting their shots, she kicks Denki in the gut, and then punches Kung Jin’s face. Denki tries to get up, but…)
Mai: (grabs Denki’s neck) Stay… (slams him down) down!!!
(Kung Jin tries to attack Mai, but she hits his belly with a knee strike, knocking him out. Then Kung Lao comes in)
Kung Lao: Hey!
Raiden: Kung Lao, don’t!
Kung Lao: (ignores Raiden) What did you do to my nephew?
Mai: He and his friend attacked me first!
Kung Lao: I’ll cut your head off!
(Kung Lao throws his hat, but Mai catches it)
Mai: They told me you are arrogant… now I can see what they meant…
Raiden: Stop this, Kung Lao!
Mai: Tell me, Raiden! Why of all people, you didn’t attack me?
Kitana: (comes in) Somehow he feels you are conflicted.
Mai: Conflicted?
Raiden: There is a man you like… Zuko, isn’t it?
Mai: Yeah, it’s him. How do you know that?
Kitana: He is one of the Elder Gods, to be more specific, he’s the Thunder God.
Raiden: You must not trust Shao Kahn or Ozai.
Mai: Why not?
Raiden: It falls upon you to find out.
(Then Kitana, Raiden and the three Earthrealm Warriors walk away)
(Some minutes later, Mai walks back to Shao Kahn’s hideout, where she hears him talking with Ozai)
Ozai: I shouldn’t have trusted such mission to Mai…
Shao Kahn: She failed us too many times…
Ozai: Maybe I should test her loyalties to Azula.
Shao Kahn: What does your daughter have to do with all of this?
Ozai: If Mai fights Azula, I have no choice but to label her as a traitor.
Shao Kahn: I see… that’s a nice plan indeed, Ozai.
Mai: (to herself) Raiden was right… I shouldn’t be so blindly…
Azula: (comes in) Loyal to your emperor?
Mai: Azula?
Azula: My father suspects you’re trying to betray him, doesn’t he? (gets into fighting stance) Time to confirm his suspicions!
(They fight. Knowing that she has no other choice, Mai goes all out despite her initial disadvantage. And in the end, she manages to defeat the princess of Fire Nation)
Mai: This is for Zuko!
(As she tries to leave, Mileena comes out of nowhere and attacks her)
Mileena: Running for your boyfriend, aren’t you?
Mai: I don’t have time for this, monster!
Mileena: Say that again!
Mai: Monster!
Mileena: Now you asked for it! I’ll rip off your entrails!
(Mileena teleports and kicks Mai various times until Mai decides to grab her leg, then she slams her down various times until Shang Tsung comes in)
Shang Tsung: So you’re betraying us…
Mai: I betrayed myself once I became your emperor’s servant!
Shang Tsung: Your soul will be mine, then Zuko’s!
Mai: Now you’re dead!
(They fight. Mai was so pissed when Shang Tsung threatened to kill Zuko and used her remaining strength to beat the sorcerer to a bloody pulp)
Mai: You will not touch him!
(Then Sindel comes in, holding Kitana in the neck)
Mai: Kitana?
Sindel: Ozai was wise to suspect about you!
Shao Khan: You and Kitana will serve as an example to those who applauded my dethronement!
Sindel: Then we’ll get what’s rightfully ours!
Ozai: (comes in) And those who stand in our way, and that includes that pathetic son of mine, will be destroyed!
(Then Baraka and Erron Black come in)
Shao Kahn: Right on time. Take her!
Baraka: Yes, my liege!
(At the wasteland, Kotal Kahn is seen talking with Zuko, Tarantula, Scorpion and Ty Lee about the situation)
Kotal: Shao Kahn intends to execute Kitana and Mai so he could take the throne back.
Zuko: I can’t allow this to happen!
Ty Lee: I’ll save her!
