The next morning, Lila received a package from Egypt.

"Ah, the Ishtars," Lila said reading the label.

This raised Rani's curiosity. The Ishtars were knowledgeable in ancient Egyptian history so anything concerning Egypt was important especially when it comes to finding out more about the thief. She leans over her Aunt's shoulder to read the label confirming it was from the Ishtars.

"Must be about the Items." Rani reached for the box and opened it.

Inside was an envelope containing a letter as well as photos of engravings with heliographic and the puzzle. The letter contained a translation for the heliographic and a note:

To the Honorable Swordsperson,

I hope this package has delivered without fail. Whatever is written on the stone has been translated as you had requested last week.

Recently, there have been rumors going on between the Ishtars and the Aziz family about an ancient Pharoah who had defeated a great evil 3000 years ago.

However, these are things that can not be revealed through letters so I will be visiting you next month to explain more details about your duty to the Pharoah.

Concerning the recent thief scandal, one has been reported missing while another has been given to release the Pharoah from his slumber. The spirit of the Pendant would reveal itself most likely sooner than later

Regards

Ishizu Ishtar

Rani was in her thinking phase.

Not for Algebra though

This is more than some regular thief and one of the Items was reported missing while the other was given to. How do I know which one is the thief?

"Rania, I hope you're daydreaming about the solution to the question." The teacher looked at her with a disappointed face but Rani couldn't care less. She kept on writing down her points about the Items.

"Care to show the class what the answer is?" He was now holding the chalk in his hand indicating that she will write down the answer on the board.

What a nuisance.

Rani had no problem going in front of the class and giving the answer. In fact, she liked it when she proved people wrong. Even if she had no idea what the walking stick with glasses was talking about.

She examined the board and noticed the title. Quadratic Equations. Judging by the fact that this was the first thing written with no other evidence of recent marks glasses is most likely asking about the formula for it.

Judging by the face her teacher was making, Rani saw she had the right answer

Judging by the face her teacher was making, Rani saw she had the right answer.

"Mr. Sato. I do hope you're daydreaming about a way to thank me for giving the right answer."

"Yes. Well, thank you," he replied, clearing his throat.

The bell rang and students scattered. Rani hadn't noticed the short brown-haired girl walking to her desk until she called her name.

"Rania, right? Hello, my name is Tea Gardner. You seem to know about the topic before Mr. Sato even talked about it. I was wondering if you'd like to join my friends and me on a short study session with us by the roof for our lunch break."

Rani would've declined because she had more important things to worry about. This whole thief situation has gotten her head tangled up and studying math is like a suicide mission for her brain cells. Until she felt that same light feeling closed up in the dark nearby and saw the puzzle around the boy. But he gave off a different vibe from last night. Now that she thought about it, she hadn't asked him about how he got it in the first place.

"Of course. I'll be there."

The roof was one of Rani's favorite places when there were no students. Tea led her to the group and as she got closer the feeling got stronger as if it was calling her.

Her trance lifted as Tea called out the names of her friends.

If she was going to find out more about the puzzle she was going to play along a bit more until everyone got comfortable.

So she talked about math-related topics and favorite places to eat at and so on and so forth before Tea and the two other boys got into an argument. Seeing that she and Yugi were alone she decided to ask about the puzzle.

"Oh, I got it as a gift from my grandpa. He owns a game shop. It came in multiple pieces so I needed to put it together which took me years to solve but I was able it finish it recently."

It was in pieces?

"Rani, about last night, I remember everything. You saved someone at the alley. You really are  an Aziz Swordswoman."

"The title's nice but I don't really feel like it. I'm supposed to finish something but my thinking process is not as sharp as how it was before. It's feel tangled and always feels like something's blocking it." She noticed that Yugi was now looking at her with wide eyes and chuckled a bit.

"Sorry. I'm boring you with my rambling, aren't I?"

"No no, it's fine. You know, my Grandpa once told me that if you can't think of anything, slow down your tracks and rethink everything slowly."

"That sounds smart. Thank you"

Rani never felt so light before. Everything before this moment was like a strong force blocking her path but as she sat and talked with Yugi, the path felt more clear. Is Yugi innocent?

Yugi stood up and walked to his friends trying to calm the situation down. The conversation had made her forget about the others and their heated debate. She decided to take the advice and rethink everything. First the notice about the thief and then the report from this morning. Ishizu had also mentioned that the spirit of the puzzle would reveal itself.

Rani noticed something in Yugi's shadow. It was faint but she saw it. A faint glow of the eye of wdjat on the shadow's forehead. She realized something.

Last night was not Yugi. It was the Spirit of the Puzzle.
