*Hi besties! I hope you guys are ready for some very sweet, emotional fluff. I had a big smile on my face the entire time I wrote this.
I'm in love with this damn Marshmallow and I'm not afraid to admit it.*
MADELINE
As I walk through the thick grass, heading towards the meadow, I'm internally cursing Bucky because I know for sure my shoes will be ruined because of this.
When I get closer to the lake, I see him.
And it makes me regret ever getting annoyed.
I look at him as he scrambles around on a blanket, setting up a picnic, and I swear my heart skips a beat.
It's so adorable to see him like this. To the rest of the world he's angry, grumpy, sulking. To some of it, he's still the Winter Soldier. The man who caused death and destruction. The man who could end your life with a flick of his fingers.
So when I see my Bucky all jittery as he moves stuff around a picnic blanket, in the middle of a meadow overlooking a lake, I chuckle a little.
I can't believe this the is the same man as the one who killed the president, once.
I know it's not - they're not at all the same - because that man wasn't Bucky. He's not my Bucky, my James.
And it's funny to think that Bucky was a womanizer back in the day. Because he's such a marshmallow now - cuddly, and sweet, and even needy, at times, for my affection.
When he finally turns around he sees me and his eyes widen.
"Hi, James. What's all this?" I casually ask as I walk towards him in the grass.
"I'm not ready yet," he mumbles as he adjusts the things on the blanket.
I chuckle, "Buck, you're all good. It looks lovely. But just for fun, do you want me to turn around until you're ready?"
He breathes out a soft laugh as his eyes twinkle in the sunlight, "No, of course not. No, come on, sit down."
I move to the blanket and take my shoes off before I sit down.
Once I'm sitting down next to him I look in his direction and I see the giant grin plastered on his face.
"So you thought we should go on a picnic, huh?" I ask with a wide smile as I look at the things placed on and around the blanket.
"Yeah," he replies with a shrug, "Thought it'd be nice."
I grin at him, "It's very nice."
I wrap my hand in his t-shirt and pull him closer to me until my lips meet his.
I sigh as our lips touch, the softness of them never seizing to amaze me.
His lips are always so soft and smooth, and I can always smell him when he's this close to me. The smell of him brings me peace and calm, it feels like home. Like I belong in his presence.
He kisses me quickly before pulling away, "I have a whole thing planned out. So you need to eat, now."
I chuckle, "Okay, you're the boss."
"Damn straight," he says as he looks me over.
Bucky brings out small sandwiches and fruit from the basket and places them between us. I sit with my legs crossed on the blanket, facing him, as I start picking at the fruit, popping a strawberry in my mouth.
