"Ron stop fussing with your hair, you look fine!"

"Just 'cause yours is always a total mess, Harry!"

Ron stood inches from the mirror in Harry's bedroom, trying to put each tuft of hair into place. Harry rolled his eyes behind him as he climbed into his trousers and wiggled into them comfortably

Harry's outfit reflected his usual Gryffindor colours. A dark maroon suit jacket over a crisp white shirt, slim black trousers and matching black belt and shoes. His belt buckle was a very discreet golden lion, a gift from his boyfriend. Though he'd actually made an effort to style his hair this time, it still remained unruly with brunette curls falling over his forehead by his glasses

"No dodgy packages from your mum this time then, eh Ron?" Harry asked

"Thankfully! Though she did send me this cravat" Ron held out a burgundy silk necktie and Harry stroked it through his fingers "It's been passed down to all the Weasley boys for every graduation, apart from Fred and George of course, seeing as they left school before exams. Dad wore it too, back when he was at school, mum got quite emotional sending it to me, saying it was the last time it would be worn... until we pass it down to our kids of course"

"Your kids?" Harry asked

"Me and Hermione, one day" Ron smiled at Harry through the mirror and Harry nodded back, suppressing the grin that formed on his face from hearing his best friends planning their future. He wondered what sort of future he had with Draco. Marriage? Children? Annoying each other every day until they were grey and dribbling?

He felt a warm fuzzy feeling develop in his chest. For the first time in his life he was thinking about the future, and not just the future of the war or the fate of Voldemort, but a real future filled with love and happiness. He fixed his own tie in the mirror as the other boys burst into their room

"Blimey, Ron! You actually look good for once!" Seamus teased, bouncing on the end of Harry's bed

"Shove off, Seamus"

"It's our last night together boys!" Dean chimed in "Feeling emotional?"

"Yeah right, couldn't wait to get rid of you quick enough" Ron joked back with a smirk

"Well.. I'm going to miss you guys" Neville added with a glum tone to his voice "I have to go back to my Nan after this!"

Ron straightened his outfit and span around, opening himself up to the room "So... how do I look?"

"Absolutely dashing" Dean replied

"Gorgeous Ron, can't wait for us to have our first dance" Seamus mocked

Ron rolled his eyes and Harry walked across to him, placing a supportive hand on his shoulder "You look great, Ron. Finally, you're nearly as good looking as me" Harry winked and received a playful shove from Ron while the others snickered behind them

"C'mon, let's go meet 'Mione"

Harry sprayed a dash of cologne, one that he'd temporarily taken from Draco's infinite collection while Ron grabbed his white suit jacket and they headed out to the common room. Dean, Seamus and Neville agreed to meet them down at the party while Ron and Harry waited on the beanbags

Harry scanned the room and once he was sure they were alone, pulled out his bottle of drink from Hagrid that he hidden under the sofa earlier that day. Using his wand, he transfigured two brass ornaments into small goblets and poured a drink for himself and Ron

"To eight years" Harry said, raising his drink with a smile

"Eight years" Ron replied, tapping his drink against Harry's and taking a sip "And what a bloody adventure it's been!"
