betty

What the hell was that?  I pace frantically in the small bathroom.

I look in the mirror. My lip gloss had smudged, leaving a gentle pink tint around my lips. My hair was a mess and as I comb it out I'm reminded of his tug on that exact spot. It makes the pit of my stomach ache. I splash water onto my face, hoping to relieve myself of the desire I now had. For.. Jughead? Pft, no not for Jughead, I'm just riled up... right? Yeah. That's all.

I tie my hair back up into a tight ponytail, running my hands over my clothes to compose myself again, reapplying some lip gloss as well.

I inhale deeply before flushing the toilet to pretend I used to bathroom, then running the tap and washing my hands.

I make my way back to Polly's - well now Jughead's - room.

"Hi." I smile awkwardly, testing the waters. Was this going to be awkward?

"Hey, Betts... you okay?"

"Yes," I nod, "Are you?"

He nods back. "Um.. let's get back to finishing this up, yeah?"

"Yes, yup. That sounds good." I say.

We get back to work and after a few short minutes, we're back to conversing as normal. I have to, embarrassingly, admit that I had never felt like that, not ever with Archie. It was weird. I guess it's probably just cause it was so different, the way Jug went about it versus how he would, something new my body had experienced.

A Few Hours Later

Jug and I had completed setting up his new room. The kiss was long behind us, I think we both kind of brushed it off and it was as if nothing happened. We hear the door downstairs open and shut.

"Elizabeth?" I hear my mother's voice call.

"Up here mom!" I say, finishing the room by slightly adjusting the lamp on his new desk.

"Oh! Wow, guys, this looks incredible!" My mom says, leaning on the bedframe.

"Thanks, mom."

"Thank you, although you can thank Betty for all the design and choices of furniture, I tend not to have much an eye for this kind of stuff."

I roll my eyes, "You do too. I'm glad you like it mom." I smile.

"It's just great. Excited for your first night here, Jughead?"

"Yes, I am Mrs. Cooper. Thank you again, I can't thank you enough."

She furrows her brows and shakes her head with a movement of her hand, "Oh shush, it's nothing, really. We're glad to have you."

She inhales to break to mere moment of silence, "Well, I brought some pizza. If you guys want to bring it up and watch a movie, break in the new bedding, that may be fun, yeah?"

"That sounds great, mom, thank you!" I say, looking for Jughead's approval.

"Yes, thank you, that'd be great." he says.

My mom smiles, "Well, kids, I'm headed to bed early tonight, it's been a long day. Let me know if you need anything okay? Just knock on my door."

"Sounds good, mom." I nod.

With that she heads off down the hall to her room.

"Pizza?" I ask in question.

"Always," he smiles, as we both scatter out the room and down the stairs.
