—Rose's POV—
In the rest of our trip to the beach, I didn't said anything at all. People die because of me. They die saving me
"Stop thinking about it" Josh said
"He died because of me, how will I stop thinking about it?"
Before Josh could answer my question, a very worried Jane, interrupted him
"Guys..........what is that?"
We looked behind us and saw a big wave coming at our way. Josh took my arm and start dragging me with him
We heard a scream followed by a cannon but continued to run. Jane was having difficulties because of her feet
"Help her" I said to Josh
"But......."
"Help her!"
He picked Jane up and start running with me behind them. My chest was hurting so bad, I couldn't breathe really well so I was not running that fast
"COME ON ROSE" Josh was screaming at me so I could be faster
The water was getting close to me and I start to lose hope. I finally felt the sand under my feet and relax a little. The pain was too much
I couldn't keep going. For the first time in my life I was giving up. I fell on my knees and waited for the water
Instead I saw Josh looking at Jane, who nodded. He let go of her and ran to me. Unfortunately, the wave caught us and sent us underwater
If I'm not mistaken before I closed my eyes I heard a cannon going off
—————————— —Third Person POV—
Peeta, Katniss and Finnick watched as the wave dragged the other three tributes to the water. They heard as the cannon went off
Finnick stayed there looking at the water waiting to see the woman that he loves coming back to surface. That didn't happened
He was praying that the cannon that he heard wasn't for her. He couldn't live without that woman.
His thoughts were interrupted by a gasp. When he looked up, he saw his Rose trying to bring a body with her to the sand
He immediately ran to her and helped her. They put Josh's body on the sand and Rose start doing a CPR on him
"Come on" she pleaded
Finnick knew how much Josh meant to her. He knew that if she lost Josh it will kill her.
"Here, let me do it" he said and gently pushed her away
Rose looked at Josh and start crying. He can't die
She put his head on her lap and waited to see his beautiful blue eyes. This man was like a father to her. He protected her for everything. He did things that, even her didn't know about, so he could save her
Her tears fell on his face. He was not breathing but that didn't stopped Finnick.
"Please.........you can't go. Don't leave" She pleaded to the man who always gave her his shoulder to cry on
————————— Rose went to her garden. The garden that she did when moved to the Victor's Village. It was a garden full of roses
Today was a hard day for her. A year ago, she went to the games. A year ago, she lived her nightmare. A year ago, she lost a important person in her life
She looked at one rose. It was a white rose. This rose was so beautiful, so pure, just like Emory
Rose took the white rose on her hand and start crying. This was the only thing she could do since her games..........cry
Suddenly, she felt a presence behind her. The person got close and hugged her without saying anything
It was normal to Josh seeing Rose like this. He start understanding that the best way of comforting her was to not speak of what happened because that would make her even more sad
They sat on the floor and stayed there looking at the roses. They could read each other so easily. They didn't need words to understand what the other was feeling. People from the outside, really thought that this two were father and daughter
"Will this ever get better?" She asked
Josh didn't answered. How could he tell her that this pain will never go away. The nightmares will forever hunt her. The tears will always be present
She decided to put her head on his shoulder
This life was so unfair. No one deserved this. All those people that she killed will forever be in her mind. All those people had families waiting for them at home. She ruined it
"Don't leave me" she whispered
She already lost so many important people in her life
"I promise that I will never leave you"

"You promised" Rose whispered
Katniss and Peeta, actually felt pity for the girl. It was obvious that Josh meant a lot to her.
"Come on" Finnick said
Out of nowhere, a gasp was heard and water got out of Josh's mouth. Rose quickly hugged him
"I thought-t that I had lost you"
"Never"
She helped him getting up and tried to see if he was ok
"Rose, what is that?" Finnick asked pointing to the scratch on her chest
She looked down and saw that it was worst than before. The adrenaline was making her forget about the pain
"It's ok........" she was going to go further with her answer but saw people getting out of the jungle
When she saw who the person was, a big smile was seen on her face
"Johanna!"
Johanna turned around and smiled when she saw her best friend
"Rose!"
They start running like idiots. When they both hugged they felt relieved for seeing the other alive. They start laughing
The others looked at them like they were crazy. They were right, this two are completely crazy
"We are alive. Do you know how good that makes me feel?" Johanna said
"I can imagine"
Rose then looked at Finnick and hugged him
"Thank you for saving Josh" she said
He didn't said anything instead gave her a kiss on her forehead. If only they knew that the worst was yet to come
