"Good morning, Mia! I'll check you off the list- wait, you are... not in here...?"

Mia took a deep sigh.
"I'm here to say goodbye."

"W-What...? Mia..."

"Hey, kittens? What's going on?"
Diego peaked from the kitchen.

"I talked with boss. It's too much for me. I'm quitting."
Mia eventually said.

"Mia...
I barely got to know you!"
I complained.
"...but I understand. I wish you a lot of luck. I hope we see each other in the future."
I shaked her hand.

"Mia... that's a shame..."
Armando sighed.

"Um, Armando... could I speak with you? Alone?"
Mia asked.

"I suppose... here, let's take one last stroll in the yard here."

And with that, I waved goodbye to Mia. I could see them through the glass door, walking around and talking.

I looked at my screen, directing e-mails to different lawyers for a few minutes.
When I raised my eyes, i froze.
I-It... It c-can't be...
They were... kissing.

I felt all my happiness draining.
All the butterflies dying.
All my hope burning to ash.

I ran to the small kitchen.
I couldn't watch it.
This is what you get for getting too excited, Y/N. This is why you should always know people before you get any feelings, Y/N.
I scolded myself.
Damn it, I'm such a fool...
Tears filled my eyes.

I heard the entrance door opening, and Armando entered the kitchen.

"Oh, didn't see you there, Y/N.
Huh?
Is everything ok?
Did something happen?"
He asked, worried.

"N-Nothing, just a... wave of bad memories washed me. Yeah."
I try to wipe my tears away.

"You look like someone who needs a hug-"
I put a hand to stop him from getting too close.
"Sorry, but no. I'm not in the mood.
I'll be back to work shortly."

"...if you say so... I'll give you some space. let me know if there's anything I can do for you."
Armando said sadly and left.

I went back to work even though I didn't fully recover.

"Coffee?"
Armando asked out of nowhere.

"Um, thanks. The bitterest one that you have, please."
I said in a slight monotone voice.
Armando nodded.

While he was making the coffees, I've been thinking...
It's not his fault. I am the one to blame, after all. I shouldn't be so negative with him.

"Blacker than a moonless night, hotter and more bitter than Hell itself...
Here's your coffee."
Armando handed me the cup.

"Thanks.

...
It's sad to see her go, eh?"
I tried to start a conversation.

"Indeed... I've known her for two years, since she started coming to our trials to watch us in action.
We even started dating a week ago."
(YES IT'S APPARENTLY CANON)

"I-Is that s-so...?
Congrats!"
I tried to smile.

"Thank you. She is a very special gal..."
Armando sighed, slightly day dreaming.

This hurts. A bit. A bit much. Ouch.

(oooooookay this section is about to be full of stuff that I made up because I don't really understand those things)

Three years passed. My heart slightly aches each time I see him. It's very hard to get over such a person as him.

Suddenly, there was a power outage, and when the power came back on, my computer didn't work.

"HEY, WHAT'S GOING ON?"
I heard other lawyers complaining.

"Uh, Y/N? Is your computer working?"
Armando came to my desk.

"No... and it seems like comms are down in this office."

"I'll go to a pay phone outside and call for the tech guys."

"No need for that. I think I know what's the problem here."
I said after analysing the situation.

"Really?"

"Yea, I have a degree in this field.
If I remember correctly, this building was built in 1980's or before, right?"

"You are right,"
Armando agreed, not sure about where I'm going.

"Okay, give me a screwdriver. I know what to do. I need to go to the server room here."
I said, standing up.

"No worries, everyone! Give me 5 minutes!"
I called out to everyone in the office.

Armando gave me a screwdriver.
His warm hand touched mine, awakening all the feelings I tried so hard to forget.
Damn it, not no!

He followed me to the server room. It took me a few seconds to locate the right electric junk, as I like to call it.

"So what is the problem?"
He asked, interested.

"In old places like this, the electricity board and the comms board are right next to each other. You know what happened in power outage, right?"

"Yes, buttons on the board jump."

"Exactly. What usually happens, is that because of how quickly the electricity went off and on, the buttons jumped quickly and the box moved a little, causing some parts in the comms box here to move and disconnect.
We have quite old computers that rely heavily on comms, so they won't work when they are out."
I explained while using the screwdriver to open the comms box.

The server room is not wide at all. Armando and I was so close together...
I felt my cheeks burning. I looked into the box, hiding my blush.

"Ooooh, what a mess. This would have cost some money to fix..."
I said while looking at the mess inside the box.
I put all the wires into place and tightened the screws that became loose.

"Aaaaand.... here! Everything's back online."
I said, proud, while screwing shut the box.

Armando checked his phone.
"It's working! Impressive, I gotta say. You saved us a lot of time."

"Y-Yea, no problem!"
I slightly stuttered.

We existed the server room.

I clenched my fists. I can't love him. He is dating Mia. You have to get yourself in your hands, Y/N.

"Diego, I have a request."
I suddenly said.

"What's that, kitten?"
He turned around and looked at me.

"I... I'd like us to be more formal. It'll be easier for me."
I said.

"O-Oh... is that so...?"
Armando was a little disappointed.
"Very well then, miss L/N. I'll go back to work. Do you want some coffee?"

"No, thank you sir. I'll be at my desk if you need me."

It hurts. It hurts so much. But I have to stop it. I have to distance myself from him. I have to understand that I don't have a chance with him.
